Travis County Commissioners Court
December 15, 2009,
Citizens Communication
Citizens communication is next.
this item gives residents an opportunity to address the court on any matter not on the agenda for up to three minutes.
davis is first, followed by gus pena, followed by ronnie reeferseed followed by morris priest.
if I could get those four individuals to come forward at this time, I would appreciate it.
mr.
davis.
>> yes, sir.
i will attempt to be --
>> [indiscernible] when one encounters a legal system of any sort, one should not be faced with persons within the legal system, administration, anything of the sort with non-communication, personal and unprofessionalization on the part of individuals in the legal venue.
no, no, no, no.
this is the way precinct 1 runs things.
i have had constant over and over numerous occasions to go to judge scott's court and his administrators are extremely rude and obnoxious.
the case on Friday, I -- I have given you all on seven-page piece of information, it wasn't intended to be an english composition.
but the detail -- to detail my experiences that I have gone through which no one should encounter, especially when they are going to trial.
the case was set for trial.
i met with a person.
i don't know what her name is.
the case was set for trial.
this person set it for trial.
she was extremely personal, she was mad, she was rude, nasty, abrupt and -- and she -- she was -- she completely ignored me.
and she -- at that time, during the whole experience, she took opportunity to stick a dagger in me and twist it.
here's what happened.
she not only did not respond to any questions or any comments that I had, she completely ignored me.
and -- and knowing that I'm going to trial, she had the power in -- in the office to cause the sheriff, the constable only and in
>> [indiscernible] she did not give me any information at all.
the other thing that I want to say is personally I feel that this woman who set this case for trial is a precinct 1 legal full-sized bully who decided to flex her muscle at the wrong time.
>> [buzzer sounding] and -- and knowing that if I go to court, unprepared, I automatically lose.
and this issue was in the wrong venue.
this was a classic case of a frivolous case and it was in the wrong venue.
my experience was so bad, and I might say I spent 17 years of my life in the law library, reading
>> [indiscernible] and everything.
i'm not an uninformed citizen coming in.
my sister was talking about taxes at the Travis County appraisal district.
that's the tax assessment collector office.
but not -- not that.
but my --
>> we are out of time, mr.
davis.
>> okay.
>> did you give judge scott a copy of what you gave me?
>> that --
>> did you give this to judge scott?
>> no, sir.
should I just copy this for you and send to it judge scott?
>> yes, sir.
and I also talked with the probate court, I talked to jamie and then, they said that it was supposed to there be and they have got in touch with judge whittington and everything.
what I am talking about it affected my brother who I have legal guardianship of the person.
i was telling them because the taxes were going to affect him who is incapacitated and can't talk.
i tried to explain it to him --
>> okay.
we got your phone number here.
let us try to reach and maybe if we can follow up and help -- we have your phone number.
let us call you after today, okay.
>> okay, I appreciate it.
>> thank you.
>> mr.
pena.
>> good morning judge, county Commissioners, gus pena, proud native east Austin night.
i want to thank the following people who have helped out this current christmas situation for the have nots.
mark mccrimmon, nate stark, jerry, raul alvarez, gonzalez, a host of other organizations and businesses in east Austin who chose not to be identified.
i want to thank them because if it weren't for them, a lot of kids a lot of time would not have christmas.
now, having said that, I'm a christian, I said this last time, I have said it many years.
i celebrate christmas for the birth of baby jesus.
the birth of the lord jesus christ, whatever you want to think about that, that's up to you all.
i'm a christian, I'm calling it as it is.
please assist toys for tots, blue santa, brown santa, christmas bureau, any and all food pantries that provide food to the needy.
i have been to the food pantry at saint ignatious.
you ought to be the people.
this is hurting a lot of the have nots and poor.
i know you know Margaret Gomez precinct 4 and all precincts throughout the county are hurting right now.
i don't care if it's anglo, hispanic, mexican american, african-american, whatever, everybody, hurting, there's a hurt out there, a need out there.
families and children will not have anything for christmas if we don't help them out.
please have, help the have dallas nots.
whatever the position is, please support the military troops in harm's way.
in brutal conditions, combat conditions, that nobody should go through and we want to -- we ask you to thank them and show your appreciation and support for them.
put aside your differences in how you feel about the war.
us veterans went through brutal conditions, brutal training just to defend our country and other people's countries.
our veterans need help for their families, jobs, affordable housing, ptsd treatment, post-traumatic stress disorder treatment, counseling, reentry counseling, jobs, mental health, substance abuse treatment.
we also need to remember to help our female veterans because they have specific health care issues that the men or male veteran does not have.
i don't mean to differentiate male from female because they are all veterans, but we need to help them out especially in their conditions, also, but it ain't getting done.
excuse my bad english.
i served on the dropout prevention task force from 1998 to 2000.
as I said before, many of our recommendations were not implemented.
we could have kept the kids from dropping out.
johnston high school is closed because the school district did not pay attention to our recommendations to keep it open and help support and prove the taks test is killing our kids.
we went to the legislature to abolish the taks test, end of course exams that's going to happen in two years should have happened sooner.
students are dropping out because they don't have mentors and tutors.
if you have time, become a mentor and tutor to help our kids, they are failing in math, in reading, they need our help.
and like I said, I want to thank the last -- I have got to go
>> [buzzer sounding] thank cecilia burke, I have known her for many years, I know it's an agenda item, I want to thank her very much for everything.
article was right on target, Sarah.
fine arts.
et cetera.
thank you, thank you, help our kids.
>> thank you.
>> mr.
reeferseed.
>> thank you, judge, I'm ronnie
>> [inhale] reeferseed
>> [exhale] singing chair require your childhood kids, you're going to miss it.
it never comes back after your first swig of alcohol or first hit off a joint, it's over.
grownups, face reality and act accordingly to help keep our once proud constitutional republic to paraphrase our founding father ben franklin, very alone, very eloquent bankster stooge obama, b.s.
obama also seemed to justify our very own war crime of continually exerting collective punishment on the peasants of iraq and afghanistan, by golly for almost a decade now.
for what?
9/11 was an inside job, people, if you don't believe me, please explain building number 7.
that -- that imploded on command clearly from controlled demolition from inside the building falling into itself with no other plausible explanation ever given.
and why was our top notch air force told to stand down while those planes, those so-called hijacked planes, flew from boston to new york to washington, d.c.
here's a shocker, because obama's silence about the treason only proves that obama is a coconspirator at least in the coverup of the 9/11 killing chasing long dead cia operative osama bin laden in afghanistan for eight years is insultingly -- bbc said our troops mostly guard those poppies to our preferred illegal drug warlords.
why not stop the killing?
how about total freedom for family farms here?
to cancel the organized crime tax freeze thugopoly on a certain few plants.
family farms here growing hemp marijuana, poppies, cocoa plants will eliminate the profit for drug thugs worldwide to push drugs on kids worldwide.
less crime means less death, less war, no more half baked excuses from obama to falsify his own misbe gotten peace prize, sending 80,000 plus troops so far to die over there for nothing.
that's right, people, each and every dead soldier or civilian and/or afghanistan is completed wasted.
no more excuses for more killing.
also obama pretending climate-gate didn't happen says he will impose scam egg and hog wash on our nation even if congress says no.
that's impeachable.
tyranny, people.
while we still can, listen to the truth about this and more on 90.1 f.m.
here in outside online listen and read about it at infowars.com, lewrockwell.org
>> [buzzer sounding] just call (888)322-1414 for dr.
paul, 888609-news to subscribe to american free press dr.
paul's favorite weekly newspaper.
thank you very much.
>> thank you, mr.
reeferseed.
>> through go.
>> mr.
priest.
>> yes, morris priest, speaking on my own behalf.
i thought that I would borrow mr.
reeferseed's sign here, debra medina for governor.
that's my choice, I don't think we're going to have much of a choice this time around.
but anyway for what its worth.
the last -- this past week I was really -- really humbled and it was just a pleasure to see all of the neal came down and spoke out against abortion, especially using our tax dollars to pay for abortion the hospital district had it on their agenda, it was voted in man miscellaneously, it was just -- unanimously, a great outflow from the public, outpouring of speaking to truth and love and I just wanted to say to all of those people, whether they were one of the 10,000 people that signed the petition or one of the hundreds that came to speak, just how proud of them that I was, it was just something really amazing to see in our community that just really gave me a lot of hope and appreciation for the citizens of this county to -- to be against that item and to come out and show it in such numbers.
i was signed up to be speaker 39, but of course we didn't get to that.
but nevertheless I was really proud of the community for coming out like that.
the city council is now taking up urban rail.
our light rail has been such a failure, as capital metro and campo.
u.t.
has said they are not going to give any money for rail, yet the city is going to make them pay them $155,000 of this $310,000 on agenda item 83 to do a study.
now, we find out they are going to create a taxing district, they are going to give central market research another lump sum of $200,000.
for our tax increment district, urban rail system.
but it's amazing to me that we come up here and speak to our public officials, whether they are on the campo board or -- or city or county, time and time again go against the wishes of people, sometimes with astronomical numbers, but I do know that people are having successes down in san marcos comes, lisa marie is running, sheila dean, katrina lbrect the author of spy checks, adjudication death, even mr.
reeferseed was down there with us at brave new books.
i am wishing her well in her runoff campaign down in san marcos.
we have a lot of people doing a lot of great things.
i know that the fix 290 group was the only group that I really thought did a great job.
>> [buzzer sounding] they brought txdot to task, but I do think that we are reaching critical mass and that we will be able to overcome these things in the future elections.
thank you.
>> thank you.
>> thank you mr.
priest.
that does it for citizens communication.
