Travis County Commissioners Court

December 8, 2009,
Item A1

View captioned video.

>> we'll call back to order the voting session of the Travis County Commissioners court.
a-1 is approve order exempting services for purchase and interim human resources directer from the competitive procurement process pursuant to section 262.02484.
the county purchasing act, and authorize purchasing agent to sign resulting contract.
last time the court did approve this direction and ask purchasing to bring back an exemption order on this item, and the new part is really authorizing the purchasing agent to sign the resulting contract, assuming it's within the same price range as we discussed.
so otherwise it's sort of the direction that we said we would head in.

>> move approval.

>> second.

>> discussion?
all in favor.
show Commissioners Eckhardt, Davis and Gomez voting in favor.

>> Commissioner Davis voting no.

>> okay.
thank you.

I move we reconsider the item that we approved previously in a-1, really the second part because we did there authorize a purchasing agent to go ahead and sign it.
is there a second to reconsidering a-1?

>> second.

>> discussion?
all in favor?
show Commissioners -- that passes by unanimous vote.
so let's reconsider the part of that motion where we authorize the purchasing agent just to sign the contract.
and consistent with the action we just took in the budget amendment, basically bring the contract back to us next Tuesday, let us -- we will be able to see the specifics there hopefully.
and what we can do too is if we know all the specifics but the contract has not been signed, at least we'll know the specifics.
if we can get from the firm specific proposals and kind of decide which one is best and that's the one we'll contract with.
then if we need to authorize the purchasing agent to sign it to expedite things, that will be fine, but at least we'll see the specifics next week.
okay?
so my motion is to delete the part of the motion previously to authorize the purchasing agent to sign the contract.

>> second.

>> discussion of that?
all in favor?
show Commissioners Eckhardt, Gomez and yours truly voting in favor.
Commissioner Davis --

>> voting no on this item.

>> -- voting no.
