Travis County Commissioners Court

December 8, 2009,
Item 30

View captioned video.

30 is consider and take appropriate action on selection process to fill vick significant driver on the board of directors of the central Texas regional mobile authority.
my recommendation would be we interview vote both of them.
we extended the deadline twice and did some searching, but we were not able to get any more interested in that.
the 15th if we do these interviews, do we want to schedule this for the 22nd?
two days before christmas.

>> it would be very difficulty think for the applicant.
i think the high likelihood one or other or perhaps both would be on vacation.

>> they just don't work like we do at the county, do they?

>> I would suggest that we go ahead and perhaps shorten the cap metro interviews and do both of these boards.
both are very important and should get representation for the first of year, in time for the first of the year.

>> we can shorten them to 30 minutes.

>> I think that's hard.

>> well, nothing to keep us from meeting on Wednesday.

>> that's true.

>> do you want to do it Wednesday morning, the 16th?
two interviews only?

>> let me check my book.

>> good point.
let's see.

>> we just want pledges from court members that we won't prolong the process because we only have two items.

>> I promise.

>> I learned that from ms.
porter.

>> I'm fine on Wednesday morning.
10:00?

>> Wednesday the 16th.

>> the 16th.
10:00 a.m.?

>> my staff would call me if there is a problem with that.
my phone is not ringing so it will work for me.
hour and a half or two hours.
what if we say 10:00?
10:00 a.m.
set aside 10:00 to 12:00, should be good.

>> I would have to leave at 11:45, but --

>> you normally speak so eloquently, Commissioner, I'm sure we will have gotten your best thoughts by then.
we'll try to conclude by then.
how is that?
10:00 next Wednesday we'll post the interviews for both the applicants for the ctrma board.
john, we will need legal here just in case.

>> and who should we task with setting this up with the two applicants?

>> I thought dietz had claimed that authority.

>> okay.

>> that's the motion.

>> second.

>> 10:00 a.m., we'll schedule them 45 minutes apiece and see if we can stick to that.
john, you have to take back your claim this is not a hard working court.
we just agreed to work an extra day.

>> even that close to the holidays.
it's cutting into your shopping.

>> I'm impressed.
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
now let's get to the item we've been trying to avoid for the longest time.
