November 24, 2009,
Item 23

View captioned video.

And while we have you there, 23, consider and take appropriate action on the following changes to the Travis County code, a, order to replace chapter 33, and b, order to amend section 4.6.1 of chapter 33.

>> yes, sir, thank you, judge, Commissioners.
sue grimes.
i brought the updated manual.
there were two areas the court did not approve delegating authority the purchasing agent, that was giving the purchasing agent the authority to modify interlocals similar to other contracts and also authority to the purchasing agent to approve assignment of contracts.
you all just approved both of those.
we went back and took those out.
barbara wilson also did a review, looked a lot at the grammatical type things and we made a lot of changes.
i would like to thank her and bonnie and myself for finally getting those things done.
that's what we did.
the court wanted barbara to review it again with these changes and I can go through all the list again or not.
if you all have any questions.

>> no, I think there were just a couple that we had issues with.
one we thought was all right, the other one we preferred not to do it.
and so those opinions have been incorporated into this final version.

>> yes.
yes, sir.

>> any specific questions from the court or comments?

>> looks pretty state forward

>> [inaudible].

>> okay.
in that case, my approval of 23 a and b.

>> second.

>> discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.

>> thank you all very much.
i would just add that the last time we made changes to the manual, it cut a whole lot of work out of having to bring stuff to court and it's really helped in staffing and work loads.
i appreciate the support and the confidence you all have in the purchasing office.

>> for the record, we want to take note of the fact that you do enjoy coming to court and working with us, but we all like to promote efficiency.
right?

>> right.
that's true.
