and showing appreciation for their service.
and I move approval.
>> second.
>> good morning.
>> good morning, judge and Commissioners, Commissioner Davis I would like to thank you for the moment of silence, you know, at the beginning of Commissioners court.
it was on time and duly right.
right now the memorial service is ongoing at fort hood.
and we -- we the veteran community here in Travis County would like to express my sincere condolences to the family members and the victims of that senseless tragedy at fort hood last week.
it's ironic that we have for our theme this year families of veterans and active duty members.
because it is documented that truly for every victim there is a -- approximately 4:00 to 5 family members that are affected by -- by and -- by soldiers demise.
so -- so with that in mind, we did not think about the families last year because of this reason.
we thought of the families for the teams because it is time for them to be truly recognized.
i have a poster, flier, that will demonstrate for family members on the flier and hopefully that will be understood that we are really concerned about the family members active duty and their veterans.
also with me today is don bolin, the period of time of the veterans day committee.
i would like to pass this on to him to see if he has anything to say.
>> good morning, judge, Commissioners, I am donald bolin, president of the veterans day committee, also a veteran.
served during desert storm.
it is an honor to serve on the committee and to honor the veterans that have given way more than I have.
i only served for three years.
members that have had dedicated service for many years and retired.
the parade is just a small amount of what we can do to help them.
around I think honoring -- and I think honoring the family was a very good idea this year.
the families dedicate just as much as the military service personnel themselves.
so it is an honor, I wish to thank Travis County for everything that they provided us in order to put on the parade.
from the facilities where we hold our meetings,
>> [indiscernible] and beverly gainer, that helped tremendously in putting all of this together.
the county is now hosting our website, which has recently been update and will provide a lot more information.
so thank you very much for the opportunity to do this.
>> thank you.
>> thank you
>> [ applause ]
>> the -- the new county -- the new website is www.nov11.org.
okay?
we are proud of that website.
it's still a work in progress.
but from where we were a year ago to where that website is now, is really the thanks of Travis County.
>> great.
>> and media assistance I mean its.
so we are going to keep that website.
we're going to keep it going.
we're going to kind updated, we're going to keep stuff posted.
if you look at website right now, you will find activities that are ongoing for veterans week.
we will put the proclamation on there.
we will update it, constantly, with information concerning veterans and veterans day activities.
>> good.
>> all right.
that's all, thank you very much.
>> thank you.
>> thank you all.
>> all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
>> keep up the great work.
>> we would like to take a picture, also.
we would like to take a photo, also.
