>> Commissioner Gomez?
yes, while everyone -- will everyone please come up to the table.
i will read the proclamation and then I do have all of the copies that you have requested.
for you.
whereas the Travis County Commissioners court recognizes the importance of giving children permanent, save, loving families through adoption, more than 6,197 children in Texas, 193 children in Travis County are waiting for permanent families, and whereas to help these children find permanent nurturing families through the efforts of the honorable darlene burn, 126th district judge, the honorable jeanne meurer senior judge, Travis County juvenile probation department, honorable rhonda hurley, honorable 419th district court judge, gisella, honorable associate judge, honorable leonard saenz, associate judge and the honorable bill king associate judge, the Travis County juvenile probation department will open their doors on Thursday, November 19th, 2009, to finalize the adoptions of local children and join the Austin bar association casa, the Texas department of family and protective services and other organizations to celebrate all adoptions and whereas this effort along with similar celebrations in all 50 states around the country will offer children the chance to live with stable and loving families.
and encourage other dedicated individuals to make a powerful difference in the lives of a child through adoption.
now therefore be it proclaimed that the Travis County Commissioners court hereby declare November 19th, 2009, as Austin adoption day in Travis County, Texas.
and in so doing urge all citizens to join in a national effort to raise awareness about the importance of adoption and I move approval.

>> second.

>> good morning.

>> good morning.

>> any comments?

>> yes, my name is denise hyde with the Austin bar association, I'm here with medina and deborah trotter also from gardner-betts juvenile detention center with lindsay lanham from child protective services.
we are very honored to have you recognize the efforts of Austin adoption day and welcome you all to come to that event if you can on the 19th.
there will be a press conference on that day at 10:30 that we would recommend you to come to as well.
as the commission stated this event both honors and celebrates all of the families that are adopting.
not just the family that's adopted this event this day, but throughout the entire year.
every Tuesday in Travis County there is an adoption docket at the courthouse where other children are being adopted.
so part of the purpose of this event is to honor and celebrate those families, but also bring more attention, adoptive families from other children that remain in care both in Travis County and in Texas.
by -- by recognizing this event you helped us do that, we thank you for that very much.

>> it's an honor to recognize this event each year.

>> any other comments?

>> all in favor of the motion.
that passes by unanimous vote with Commissioner Davis temporarily off the dais.
thank you.

>> thank you, keep up the good work for us.
