Good afternoon, let's call to order the Travis County housing finance corporation, one item, receive summary report from Travis County emergency services district no.
3 regarding the success of fire academy no.
7 cadet programs.
good afternoon.

>> good afternoon, I'm harvey Davis, manager of the corporation.
i'm here with assistant chief widdig of the oak hill fire academy or fire department.
and with the two cadets.
just as background, in April of 2008, the corporation approved funding for five scholarships, five scholarships for five cadets.
the amount was $15,000 and -- and so in the last class, there were -- there were three cadets that were -- that used three of the scholarships and this class two cadets used two of the scholarships.
and as part of the requirement, then they -- they are to make a report to the board and so I will turn it over to assistant chief.

>> Commissioners, judge, thank you for having us here today.
obviously, we're very appreciative of the support that the -- that the court and the finance corporation has given us: today we have our two scholarship can debts.
and they do have a few words for you this afternoon, if you don't mind.

i want to say thank you for the opportunity that you all gave me.
i wouldn't have been able to have done it without y'all's help.
it opened up a lot of doors and hopefully I will have a nice and bright future ahead of me.
i just want to say thank you.

>> also I wanted to say thank you.
i really wouldn't have been able to do it without the scholarship.
and it really helped me out.
hopefully I'll make y'all proud when I become a firefighter.
thank you.

>> and cody douglas foytek.

>> are you all in the job market now?

>> I'm -- we're both in the -- waiting to get our e's.
eemt's.

>> they are both currently enrolled in the medical program, in approximately three months they will be able to go out and actually get that full-time job they're looking for.

>> that's wonderful.

>> that's when the fun starts.

>> thank you for your interest in this.
it's critical to our community to have folks like you out there.

we really appreciate that.
