receive legal briefing from county attorney and outside counsel renea hicks, esq.
and take appropriate action regarding the matter of northwest Austin m.u.d.
v.
holder in the supreme court of the united states.
we will postpone 22, 23, we will not discuss either in executive session.
24 we will discuss -- by the way -- 21 is a consultation with attorney exception to the open meetings act.

consider and take appropriate action concerning the offer to settle Travis County's workers compensation lien on the claims of benjamin maldonado; subrogation.
consultation with attorney, also, so just two items to discuss.
for the record, when we come back to open court, we will take appropriate action on those two items.
if any.
and adjourn the Commissioners court meeting, then take up the two corporations, which should take a matter of seconds.

>> > we are back from executive session where we announced number 21, the matter involving the northwest Austin m.u.d.
versus holder in the supreme court of the united states.
i move that with regard to the case of northwest Austin municipal utility district number 1 verse eric holder oh, et al., number 106 cv 1384 in the united states district court for the district of columbia, that we authorize Travis County to join with the united states through the u.s.
department of justice and all other defendant interveners to enter into a consent decree subject to federal district court approval with the plaintiff northwest Austin municipal utility district number 1 which would allow the mud to, 1, bail out under section 4 of the voting rights act from the obligation of section 5 or obligations of section 5 of the voting rights act.
and number 2, dismiss the m.u.d.'s challenge to the constitutionality of section 5 of the voting rights act.
