Let's call to order the Travis County health facilities development corporation, one item.
consider and take appropriate action on request to approve payment related to grant agreement with southwest key programs, inc.
>> on this item we're requesting that board approve the -- to pay southwest keys $100,000 per the grant agreement.
you all may recall back on September 16, 2008, the board approved a $100,000 commitment to assist southwest keys in finalizing construction of their east Austin community development project located on 672 jane lane in east Austin.
on April 14, 2009, a grant agreement was approved and executed by both southwest keys and the board.
part of the requirement was that kind of detail what phase of the construction was complete and also one thing that was real key was that the project had to include a medical examination room.
staff did go out to the project and we reviewed it.
there was within the project a facility, it's a secure room that could offer -- could offer confidential setting to provide medical services.
they are -- they are doing their chatter school, which has -- charter school which has over 100 students.
i was kind of amazed because everything was real quiet but they assured me there were 100 students there and sure enough when they changed classes there were 100 students there.
but they are doing outreach to hispanic physicians associations to try to get more attention within this -- or to offer more services from within this medical community or medical center.
so based on our review, it would be appropriate for staff to approve the request.
