View captioned video.

Do we need to do item a-4 first?
that's the letter from city of Austin asking us to agree to the 6.5% he overhead on the interlocals.

>> they are not asking to apply that retroactively, though, are they?

>> I'm sorry?

>> are they asking to apply that retroactively?

>> I'm going to let sherri.

>> in the interest of time, a-4, consider and take appropriate action regarding offer from the city of Austin to set a standard administrative cost of certain interlocal agreements.

>> good morning, judgen Commissioners, sherri fleming.
the court had directed staff to work with the city of Austin about a year ago to get to a standard assistive cost that we would pay to the city of Austin for certain agreements as well as charge the city of Austin for certain agreements.
and so forgive my interruption, but if this agreement that you are about to approve includes that amount, our interest was to have you be responsive to the letter that you should have in your backup from the city manager prior to the approval of these agreements.
the agreements that were under -- that were a part of this discussion was the central booking agreement, the emergency services agreement, and the health and human services public health interlocal.

>> where did the 6.5% come from?

>> it is the result of sort of staff analysis on both sides, looking at the items that were included in administrative costs and while we did not delineate a list of particular items, I think that in looking at the administrative costs on both sides, both the city and the county financial staff were able to reach this 6.5% as representative of the sort of a shared administrative burden.
for all of the three agreements.

>> I guess what makes it better is that it would cut -- it would be applied to both of us.
city of Austin as well as Travis County.

>> that is the -- that's the agreement.

>> discussion?
this is a-4.
what does the central booking interlocal do?

>> they apply it to -- the way the formula works is we look at the expenses incurred by the sheriff's department and deduct expenses from the city of Austin expenses from the formula.
we apply the 6.5% to both and it nets out to in your cost mols I think it netted out "-i don't have the net.
it's got the two numbers spiked out.
but it's applied to both pieces of the formula.

>> 6.5% is.

>> yes.

>> on a-4, move we approve 6.5% with the understanding that we would revisit this amount during next year's budget process.

>> second.

>> discussion?
seconded by Commissioner Gomez.
all in favor?
show Commissioners -- Commissioner?
that passes by unanimous vote.
thanks you, ms.
fleming, for that very timely piece of advice.
