Travis County Commissioners Court
September 15, 2009,
Item 32
32.
consider and take appropriate action on items associated with the 2009 Travis County combined charities campaign including the 2009 fiscal agent agreement.
>> for you for something completely different.
thanks so much for john hilly for being so completely wonderful.
we have been working on the new campaign, thank you, we have been working on the new campaign for combined charities this year.
we started talking about how to raise money last year and this year, considering the economic time that's we are all in.
last year we were able to raise a good bit of money.
one of the things that the court and I agree on is so make -- to make sure that all of the money that folks contribute to the charities is properly managed, fully accounted for, is that we have a fiscal agent.
before you today what you have is a document that is signed by the same fiscal agent that we used last year.
mary ben ramsey, she did a fine job keeping track of not only our one-time contributions by our payroll deductions.
contributions, she has now signed a contract for this year, too, and I recommend that the court accept her fiscal agreement contract.
questions?
this used to be problematic for us, but now a whole lot smoother.
>> we have smoothed out a lot of the rough edges, she's made it very rote, very easy to understand the flow of the money.
>> ms.
ramsey is one of our more prominent Austin residents who used to do work with own of our foundations.
>> a lot of legal work
>> [indiscernible] foundation work
>> [indiscernible]
>> in fact one of the things that dana did mention is that the contract will actually start earlier, so a lot of the money it was just sitting, we don't know what to do with, they will be able to take it immediately starting October 1.
>> the only objection that I have is danny when you call -- dana, when you call john hilly wonderful --
>> [laughter], I've had --
>> judge, he is.
>> that hit a funny bone for me.
>> [laughter] move approval.
>> second.
>> discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
