Number 30.
is to consider and take appropriate action on order designating main early voting polling place, temporary branch early voting polling places and hours for early voting on weekdays for the November 3, 2009 special joint elections.

>> thanks you, judge, this is for the November 3rd, 2009, special election, basically the constitutional amendment election, we will have a few other entities who are going to join in that November election.
the -- the list of polling places that you have before you for early voting is a reduced list from what -- from what our voters are accustomed to do.
it's time for belt tightening.
and we felt like along with all of the other departments in Travis County who have been asked to cut back, that this might be a good time for -- for elections and our voters.
to also try to cut back, too.
so we have taken -- we have taken the locations on the right-hand side of your list, those will be the permanent locations, and then we have gone and filled back in for the locations that have always been people's favorites and we will be visiting most of those locations in a mobile site.
so in most cases, we will be at all of the usual locations for at least one day.
but we are going to cut back the permanent ones to -- to 12 locations, just for the November constitutional amendment election, you will have the opportunity to reconsider the number of locations and presumably increase them when you consider -- when you consider the -- the democratic and republican primary elections later next year.
and if there are any questions, I'm happy to answer them.
we split the -- the early voting, what we call the permanent locations by your precincts, so what we have is a very even, equitable distribution throughout the entire county.
that goes for the more permanent locations as well as the mobile locations.

>> questions, comments?

>> I'd like to ask you this, dana.
with the court's approval of this, would there be an opportunity for the viewing public to maybe hone in on these locations that are being presented here today, how would that they -- how would they do that?

>> the way we normally do that, there's a website that asks for -- for comments from citizens, Travis County's website, they just go under Travis County clerk elections and there was a way to do that.
there's also a telephone number to call, 238-vote and give us the input.
and then we also get routine input from the election judges and the precinct chairs.
for our polling sites, 238-vote.

>> will we also be advertising the polling places for --

>> [indiscernible]

>> yes, ma'am, we have to do that, right, we will be doing that.

>> would you introduce --

>> [indiscernible]

>> thank you so much they don't get enough credit for all of the hard work they do.
this looks like I do everything.
if you would please stand we've got my chief deputy I believe, she may have -- here she is, susan bell, my chief deputy and at my far, on the far end here, jane smith who is the head of the records management division.
she helps us keep our records straight, believe me there are a lot of them.
the manager of the elections division gale fisher and the program manager michael winn.
they are fabulous.

>> they really are fabulous.
good to see all of you again.

>> move approval.

>> second.

>> discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
