Travis County Commissioners Court

September 8, 2009,
Item 4

View captioned video.

Number 4 is to consider and take appropriate action regarding the prohibition of outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of Travis County.

>> good morning, judge, Travis County fire marshal.
our kbdi is headed in the right direction, but only down to 700.

>> only down.

>> only down to 700 from about -- I believe it was 715 or 720 last week.
the -- the recent scattered showers are helping.
but what we need is some -- some long-term wide-spread slow rains.
and those are not in the forecast as of today.
a number of recent fires have occurred over the last week and they are just grass fires, primarily children doing things they probably should not have been doing, but the fire goes to show that any fire that does start can spread very quickly.
the current order does not expire until September the 16th, there's another voting session between now and then, and we will prepare another order for your consideration at that time.
but our recommendation currently is to leave the burn ban in place.

>> questions, comments?
so by taking no action, we leave in place the outstanding order prohibiting outdoor burning?

>> yes, sir.

>> right, thank you.

>> thank you very much, we'll have it back on next week.
next week is the 15th.
i will need facilities to head this way and human resources.
and t.n.r.
on item no.
22.
number 24 the matter involving the -- the city of Pflugerville and the -- and the fiscal separated today?

>> it is ready today, sir.

>> okay.
and also we are ready for the revenue estimate, the fourth one in 29.
first come, first serve today.

>> would you all like to take up 30?
