Travis County Commissioners Court
August 25, 2009,
Item 28
Mr.
reeferseed, since we have you there, 28 is to consider and take appropriate action on request to purchase two toro ground masters mowers for right-of-way maintenance from professional turf products through buy board cooperative purchasing.
your question?
>> well, frankly, mr.
joe gieselman kindly straighten medicine out on this.
and my idea again was to consider real, ie push lawn mowers for the health of the person who is doing the lawn mowing and health of the air and they automatically kind of mulch the grass.
so it helps and it's a win-win situation, but he explained to me that we're talking about an easement that goes on for miles and miles and miles, and he explained it would probably be problematic in this particular case.
but he did also assure me that there's a place for push or real lawn mowers in the county budget for smaller things like in front of single buildings and stuff like that.
so I asked him when could I suggest that?
and he said when it comes up or when that sort of thing comes up again.
so I'll just try to pay close attention to your schedule and if any of y'all choose to remind me, I certainly wouldn't mind that.
because again, real lawn mowers, meaning push lawn mowers, they don't pollute anything into the air and they actually add to the health of the person who is doing the work, I think.
>> mr.
gieselman?
any comments?
>> no.
>> move approval.
>> second.
>> all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
