Travis County Commissioners Court
June 23, 2009,
Northwest Travis County Road District Number 3 and
Bee Cave Road District Number 1
>> good afternoon, let's call to order the northwest Travis County road district number 3, otherwise known as the golden triangle.
item no.
one is to consider and take appropriate action on property tax rate considerations for the northwest Travis County road district number 3.
>>
>> [indiscernible]
>> good afternoon, judge and Commissioners.
>> good afternoon.
>> could you please advise me if we are going into considerations for each of the
>> [indiscernible] Travis County separately?
i -- I would be repeating the same -- the same I tell you what we can call up one more because looks like they both have two items and they are the same.
so let's call up Travis County bee cave road district number 1, the galleria, how is that?
number 1 there is the same.
1.
consider and take appropriate action on property tax rate considerations for the Travis County bee cave road district number 1.
how is that, ma'am?
>> sounds good.
>> okay.
so every year, we ask the court to approve these considerations for calculating the effective tax rates for the two districts.
on -- two road districts.
on page 1 we are recommend thank the court adopt the same considerations as in the past and those are 100% anticipated collection rates.
noting that this collection rate is specifically for use in the effective tax rate calculations and different than the collection rate used in regards to the budget and revenue estimate.
this collection rate would be certified less than 100% and then collect more, we would be penalized in the amount that we would be able to collect next year.
so historically we have always certified 100% to avoid that penalty and we are recommending the same this year.
the optional homestead exemption of $65,000 for disabled and over 65, and the greater 5,000 or 20% for all other homesteads and actually that does not apply to the road districts, I apologize.
the Commissioners court may wish to buy down the debt rate by lowering reserves, we recommend new debt buy down for the district.
and -- and those are the assumptions for the road district.
i'm
>> [indiscernible] with the Travis County tax office.
>> good job.
>> thank you.
>> questions?
i would like to have them voted on separately.
because I'm going to abstain on one of them.
separate the vote.
>> all right.
let's take it for the northwest Travis County road district number 3.
move approval.
>> second.
>> discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
number 1 for the -- for the Travis County bee cave road district number 1.
the galleria.
move approval.
>> second.
>> discussion?
all in favor?
show directors Gomez, Huber, Eckhardt, yours truly, Commissioner Davis abstaining.
>> thank you.
for both road districts, approve payment of claims.
>> move approval.
>> second.
>> discussion?
all in favor?
let's -- tell you what, let's show directors Gomez, Huber, Eckhardt and yours truly voting in favor of paying the claims in the golden triangle and let's show the same vote with Commissioner Davis abstaining in the bee cave but voting for in the golden triangle.
clear enough.
>> uh-huh.
>> move adjournment of both of them.
>> second.
>> that passes by unanimous vote.
