>>

>> [inaudible - no mic]

>> presented before you is an interlocal agreement between Travis County and the lcra where the from the will provide approximately $64,750 and the lcra will put up one thousand dollars of in-kind services.
those funds will be transferred to an agreement between the lcra and the u.s.
corps of engineers for a project that we have been working on with them for going on a decade now in the timber creek area.
the timber creek area is in the onion creek floodplain.
we have been acquiring properties to pull them out of the -- to remove those houses from the flood hazard.
our -- our project with the corps is to continue buying homes in that area to -- to -- to reestablish ecosystem and to create recreational facilities.
what this does is links us to the corps of engineers and allows us to give our funding to them.
stacy is here to help answer any specific questions that you may have.

>> in addition to that, we are communicating with -- with congressman doggett's office for -- to try to get that money approved in the -- in the budget.
in their budget so they can kind of let those funds come to Travis County to finish this project.
we have been working on it 10 years.

>> yes, we have.
we've had -- in the house side we've had two representatives make requests to put this project for construction in the federal budget.
we've had one member request on the senate side.
they're still working out their fy 10 budget, we don't know if it's going to make the cut, but our local delegation has really come through for us to far.

>> that was my question.
75% federal, 25% local.
so by approving this today, we go ahead and spend the $65,750 of county money?

>> right.
that will be towards what they call the preliminary engineering and design phase of the project.
there's still a whole other construction stage that the court will --

>> we are confident at some point the money will come from the federal government.

>> yes.

>> otherwise we wouldn't spend our 25%.

>> right.

>> it's been a tug, you know, tug of war and -- but our congressman tells us that, you know, he's working on it.

>> once the feds complete it, we're in a better position with the feds to get construction money.

>> discussion?

>> I move approval.

>> second.

>> all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.

>> thank you.

>> thank you.

>> thank y'all.
