>> 29 is to consider and take appropriate action on lease agreement between mf Austin ridge llc and pb Austin ridge llc and Travis County, Texas for the county's participation in the child protection team.

>> morning.

>> good morning, laverne woody, Travis County district attorney's office.

>> (indiscernible).

>> thank y'all very much for having us here this morning.
we're very excited to be here asking you to consider and take action on the lease agreement between Travis County and mf Austin ridge llc and pb Austin ridge llc.
on behalf of the child protection team.
as you know, the child protection team was formed back in 1991 to better serve children that have been abused and neglected in our community.
that the child protection team consists of Austin police department, Travis County sheriff's office, Travis County district attorney's office, dell children's center, and the center for child protection.
this team works together to provide services for children who have been abused and neglected in our community.
originally the team was co-located providing services together.
some things happened regarding leases and they had to be separated at some point in time.
since cps has been moved to a different location, law enforcement stayed largely together at techno center drive, and in 2004 the center for child protection, at that time known as the children's advocacy center, started a campaign to build a new center for the center for child protection.
and it had opened approximately a year ago the kasminski center for child protection.
that center is now located out at Austin ridge off of 967 adjacent to that building that's been constructed is a building that's available for the rest of the child protection team, the Travis County sheriff's office, the police department, prosecutors, all to reco-locate so we can all be back together again providing services in a more efficient and effective manner.
there has been an ongoing effort to produce a lease that would satisfy all kinds of public and private entities that our attorney has been working long and hard on on behalf of the county.
the Austin city council voted to approve the lease on may 21st, so that step has been completed and we are here today to ask you to approve this lease between Travis County and the lessor.

>> so on this lease the county's responsibility is what?

>> the county is responsible to pay monthly lease payments in the amount of $13 per square foot for the space for the sheriff's department and the prosecutor's office.

>> comes to roughly $38,000 a year.

>> 38,000?

>> yes, sir.

>> is there a budget for that?

>> yes, sir.
we have it internally in our budget and they have it in their budget.

>> all right.
and so have we --

>> when the group separated out, the Austin police department quite frankly allowed us to use their offices without pay, but we have maintained that amount in our budget in anticipation of being co-located again.

>> okay.
mr.
reeferseed?

>> hi.
i'm not sure if this is really relevant, but I'm here speaking of the child protection services I would like to remind everyone that we have here in Austin an organization called heart house, which is a day care facilities provided for free to people who can't afford it.
through the university of Texas there's a program called u.t.
read.
that's how I got involved with them.
every time I see a city budget or county budget or anything about children, I look for heart house to see if y'all are taking them into account.
and that's a very worthy organization and it does all kinds of good and they need money to continue typically.
so I just wanted to throw in my two cents for them on this general issue.
thanks.

>> okay.
move approval.

>> second.

>> discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
thank y'all.

>> thank you.
