Item 3

>> item number 3 is to approve proclamation congratulating any baby can and acknowledging 30 years of life changing and empowering services to families in our community.
should I read the proclamation?
it reads that whereas any baby can brings value and hope to our community's youngest, sickest and poorest children and their families.
whereas the agency originated in 1979 as to then the family resource center and through the years has strengthened through mergers with any baby can of Austin in 2000, candlelighters child care cancer foundation in 2003, and children's hearing aid Texas in 2008.
whereas any baby can offers a continuum of services ranging from literacy classes to medical case management helping to provide comprehensive care that meets each family where they are.
pardon me.
they maintain a passion for families today and thrive under the belief that all children can reach their potential through education, therapy and family support services.
whereas for the central Texas community any baby can has become the leading resource for children in need, providing life changing services and empowering communities and families, which builds a brighter future for us all.
and whereas any baby can celebrates 30 years of service, becoming a leading resource for children in need, providing life changing services and empowering families to build a prieter tomorrow for -- a brighter foam for all of us.
now therefore be it resolved that the Travis County Commissioners court do here by congratulate any baby can for 30 years of tremendous life changing and empowering services it brings to the families in this community.
and I move approval.

>> second.

>> morning.

>> morning.
thank you so much, judge Biscoe, Commissioners.
i'm ellen and I have the privilege of being the executive director of any baby can, child and family resource center.
we are excited about our 30th anniversary.
30 years of service to the central Texas community, and just in the way that we empower families one family at a time, I want to say that we feel that you, the Commissioners court, empowers us.
you empower us to be innovative, you empower us to provide leadership.
you empower us to work with our citizens one family at a time to build a brighter future for all of us.
the partnership between any baby can and the Commissioners court goes back almost longer than we could find records for.
we have been contractors for specific services both through the family resource center as well as any baby can of Austin.
before the merger of those two organizations in 2000.
then at that point of merger where it was important to have a facility that brought those services together to build that continuum to make sure that the organization was strong going forward for the youngest in our community, you were there for us with our capital campaign in 2001.
more recently another partnership through the best single source, a partnership in the basic needs collaboration for housing and utility assistance for our citizens.
so there's so many ways that we connect and you provide that partnership for us.
we just wanted to say thank you.
again in the way that we empower families, you empower us.
and it's important for us to recognize that as we get to our 30 years.
we are having a big party on Sunday afternoon.
it's an open house and celebration, 2:00 to 5 at our facility to seventh street.
your offices have received invitations and we'll call to double-check that.
we are going to be hosting emily vargas adams, now emily vargas barone, who many of you may know from the day she started sedan back in 1979 by going primarily along cesar chavez in east Austin, knocking on doors to find out what mothers and babies needed in this community.
lyle la carl, who was trument al in getting any baby can off the ground in 19.
1982, will also be there to celebrate with us.
while this is a celebration of our past 30 years, we will continue to celebrate with your help our next 30 years.
next 30 years of bringing help and hope to the youngest, the sickest and the poorest children in our community.
so I'd like to give you a little present.
and since we are a children's organization and children like stickers, well, the Austin chronicle liked us so much they named us the best for family empowerment in 2008 and they gave us stickers.
so I'd like to share our stickers with you.
thank you so much for this proclamation and thank you so much for your partnership.

>> thank you.

>> thank you.
any other comments?

>> thank you.

>> this is my wonderful senior staff.
and they're the ones who make it happen.

>> all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
