>> item let's see, item 18.
18.
consider and take appropriate action on receipt of the personal financial statement for brenda coleman-beattie, Travis County appointee to the Travis County healthcare district board of managers.
planning and budget dept.
good morning, sherri flemming, as you know, we have a process to appear point new members to the -- appoint new members.
you have completed that process for your appointee on March the 31st.
and appointed ms. Brenda coleman-beattie, to fill the unexpired term of dr. Eduardo sanchez.
we require our appoint yes to the board of meetings to complete a personal financial disclosure, so staff requested this item to advise you that we have received the personal financial disclosure and request that you accept it and order staff to file that disclosure with the clerk.

>> move approval.

>> second.

>> so this is just normal procedure.
if we ever have a chance to look at that and have the record keeping folks such as the clerk is the one that retains this particular statement?

>> yes, sir.

>> but I guess -- well, anyway, I see the point, I wanted to make sure we didn't get in the record keeping business as far as the court is concerned.
but anyway you have already said that the clerk, because that was something -- that was my question, here we are accepting receipt of it.
but kind of lost -- left me right there.
I said wait a minute are we now in the record keeping business for financial disclosure statements or does this go to the clerk.
I had a question mark here with that particular question, but since you've answered it, I have no problem with it at all.
as long as the clerk gets it and stuff like that.

>> the ultimate responsibility is the individual who

>> [indiscernible]

>> exactly.

>> and just --

>> [indiscernible] or not, but the goal of course is to -- is to -- they are saying that -- that it's acceptable to them at this point and that you can go forward with the appointment.
swearing in and all of that, whatever they have to do over there.
but the ultimate responsibility is the individual who fills it out.
appointed or elected official.

>> so it's their responsibility to get it to the clerk and have it filed.

>> yes.

>> yeah.

>> I don't think that our department does that?

>> well, in this case we were asked to -- to have the -- the applicant submit them to us and I was on your committee to finalize this process.
so we were glad to -- we were glad to do this, this small piece and it certainly provides us an opportunity to ensure because I think the idea here is to have transparency in -- in any potential conflicts that the court might need to be aware of.
by having staff receive those documents we've had a chance to review it, in addition to the disclosures that were part of the application.
so we can say with confidence that we have not identified any conflicts based on what has been submitted and so -- so encourage you to accept that document.

>> okay.

>>

>> [indiscernible]

>> > thank you.

>> all in favor?

>> I can see your arm.

>> [laughter]
