16.
consider and take appropriate action regarding a request from workforce solutions - capital area for a license agreement to use the 5335 airport boulevard building for a career and job fair on April 28, 2009.
16.

>> judge, we have -- the workforce solutions, capitol area, to use, as you said, a request for, to use 5339 airport boulevard which was the old chair king facility to hold a job fair.
their last job fair was so successful that they didn't really have enough room to accommodate everyone that showed up, so this is a much bigger building.
we provided the backup for you, the -- we are fine with them using it on the date that they would like to use it, April the 28th.
and we have included proposed terms and $600 that would cover the county's cost for utilities, custodial, and maintenance, and you have a license agreement, should have a license agreement that we have signed from workforce solutions and it's before you for approval.

>> ms.
flemming, share with us the followup can we received from work source.

>> good afternoon, ms.
flemming executive manager for health and human services.
my office did receive a request from the executive director for workforce solutions, allen miller to consider that the court consider waiving the 600-dollar fee and it is my understanding that facilities management and the operations had negotiated this fee as a part of their agreement.
however, I did receive this request and indicate that I would share that with you, and so just for the benefit of those who might be listening, workforce solutions is a significant partner with Travis County on a lot of funds, particularly in the health and human services arena, so it is that partnership under which they are making this request.

>> I guess my inclination would be to cut it in half, if possible.
one is that I do know the executive director and we striking to work together more closely.
these will be Travis County residents, by and large, coming and looking for work.
if we are smart, I think we will have a table set up in there for maybe x offenders in some of our programs but we have to pay utilities and rents for ours, if we cover utilities which is $200, that money goes to another party and we sort of get another $100 for rent and custodial, our custodial people are doing their other jobs at another displace, so in my view, it really would be a good show of partnering with work source, I think, -- by the way, the mayor and I appoint the whole board, by state law, I don't know that it will kill their budget, but I think it will help our working relationship long term, probably if we were to waive part of that $600, so we would cover our direct costs, which would be utilities, maybe get a little bit for rent.
and we would pick up custodial and part of that rent, if we do the 300 route.
i don't know if it is a back breaker for them or us, but I think it would be a good gesture in my view.

>> charge 300.

>> that would be my recommendation and we would just change a number in the license agreement you drafted, right?

>> that's correct.

>> that would be my motion, in a spirit of partnership, we reduce the 600 down to 300, and then communicate to that to them as usual, as quickly, and then, indicate, though, we will partner with them on the work job fair day, also.

>> yes, sir.

>> second by Commissioner Gomez.
discussion?
all those in favor.
this passes by unanimous vote.
a very quiet Commissioners court.
