Travis County Commissioners Court
March 31, 2009,
Item A1
We had told the deputy constables that we would call up an item dealing with the -- a-1.a 1 is consider and take appropriate action on request for county contribution to and participation in the upcoming urban music festival, an african-american quality of life event.
we have participated in the past.
the first time we did this was 2006.
and three of the constables have chatted with the urban festival folks, and basically agreed to work with a.p.d.
to provide security.
and in my little memo, I tried to explain what the constables are asking for, and that is -- what they will try to do, one is that they will commit to assist, try to find the funding within their budget, but if they run short this fiscal year, they want the court's commitment to authorize basically line item transfers, and if there is not funds available in their department's budget, then they want the Commissioners court to help cover the shortfall.
we have made the commitment before and I think for most of the constables really have not needed to do anything; however their budget is tighter than usual, they say.
that's why I told them I would put it on the court's agenda, and if we have questions we would answer those.
mr.
creature is here.
i did see one of the constables here earlier.
>> he stepped outside to make a call, I think.
>> any issues or questions?
then I move approval.
>> second.
>> discussion of the motion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
mr.
creech, thank you very much.
and is dana debeauvoir outside?
>> yes.
let's see if we can get dana and then the legislative item.
a-1 is to consider and take appropriate action on request to -- oops, we just had that one.
