Travis County Commissioners Court
March 31, 2009,
Item 29
>> number 29 I drafted a letter yesterday for your conversation.
it's simply in draft, and what we're asking in that letter, which I think is a good idea, is to ask the governor to consider appointing a Travis County resident as the next chair of the central Texas regional mobility authority.
>> I second that.
>> I thought it was a good letter, judge.
>> I think it's a good idea.
i hope he does it.
if.
>> move approval.
>> seconded by Commissioner Eckhardt.
any discussion of the motion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
and motion also to authorize the county judge to send this on behalf of the Commissioners court.
>> yes.
>> do you have a good relationship with the governor?
>>
>> [ inaudible ].
>> fof perry made -- governor perry made the appointment.
>> oh, okay.
>> let's see if we can take a couple of these executive session items --
>> did we have 21?
>> 21 for this afternoon, judge?
>> I was going to take it this afternoon.
i think that's going to be a little discussion.
do we want to recess early and come back at 1:00?
>> before you go, judge, I think you might have gotten 13 and I had questions about that.
>> we called 13 up.
>> we called it up and approved it.
you were in discussion with a person.
>> oh.
so I missed that?
>> you can ask your questions, just can't ask them before action on the item.
>> well, I guess for my permanent information, -- for my personal information, why did you only go through this sole bid?
because there's nobody else to bid for it, I i need you to come to the table, please.
>> they need you on the microphone.
you're question is why did we get one bidder?
that's a good question and I don't know why.
>> that was my question, why we only had one bidder for that harvest seeding and planting services.
>> apparently there was only one that was -- that came forward.
>> okay.
>> normally that's what we would do unless we think that the bid is outrageous.
so if the proposal is completely unacceptable, then we just rebid basically.
>> yeah, okay.
so I guess a follow-up on that would be when do you -- how does a citizen find out about those contracts being up for consideration?
in other words --
>> we advertise.
>> you advertise.
>> and do you have something that you can send out to citizens like me who -- I don't know --
>> there's something also called rfp depot that provides all of the information on all contracts that we're looking to let.
>> it's called rf --
>> rfp depot.
you can ask the purchasing department on the fourth floor and they can tell you all about it.
>> rfpd --
>> depot.
>> great.
thanks for your help.
>> this is a good time to recess until 1?
>> I second that.
>> move to recess until 1:00?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
