>> thank you, now moving on to something easier, number -- number 5 consider and take vote and application regarding applicants for Travis County healthcare board of managers.
now, we have three candidates to consider that we got from the city of Austin for the joint appointment, right?
and those three are anthony hailey, julie cortez and katrina daniels.
i move that we select anthony hailey.

>> second.

>> discussion?
this will be for the joint appointment.
all those in favor?
show Commissioners Davis Eckhardt and yours truly voting for mr.
hailey.

>> Commissioner Gomez abstaining, now we have appointment for Travis County.

>>

>> [indiscernible]

>> second in motion.
discussion?
all in favor?
show Commissioners david Eckhardt and a yours truly voting in favor, Commissioner Gomez abstaining.

>> good afternoon.

>> a couple of questions, how would you like this to be communicated, cis will you communicate from your office or do you need a letter on your behalf.

>> I think a letter from a member of the court would suffice, now we have the ethics forms to be completed, ethics questionnaire?

>> it is the personal financial disclosure forms.

>> okay.
we need that done.

>> yes.
so can we get you to let the two selected applicants know?

>> it will be my pleasure, yes.

>> and to get the form to them and if it is okay with the court, I will just do a short note to the city council and I guess may as well go ahead and communicate to the board of managers, regarding the action taken today.

>> judge, I think it would be very appropriate for those who have participated in the process to maybe send a nice little thank you note for their participation, because I -- we looked at these very thoroughly and there was some good applicants we had

>> excellent.

>> just excellent.
i think we really did do well with those who participanted along with with the motions, I think it would be nice for us to send a little thank you notice to those who participated.

>> would it be appropriate to also look at the time frame for the -- to encourage them to apply again and provide to them the time frame for our -- for all of the board positions?
would that be appropriate?

>> if they showed interest, they might as well.

>> because they are just sterling.

>> we had some really good, good folks this time around.
i mean, it was good.

>> well, all of your remaining appointees, if you recall, the initial board they were staggered from one to two years, so there was the fourth year for the final candidates from the original board, if that makes sense at all, so now I think we -- we probably have -- we will still have every year someone who -- who is -- whose appointment will be expiring and so our practice has been to confer with that appointee and indicate whether they were interested in being reappointed and then, if not, to notify you all and have you initiate the process, so that has been our practice.

>> well, judge, in the form of I guess direction, would it be appropriate in the form of direction to have staff having them prepare a thank you letter to those applicant that is came before us at this time?
or does it help to come from the court?

>> sounds good to me.
mrs.
flemming is well known for her writing ability.

>> what about that, ms.
flemming?

>> I will be happy to do so on your behalf and so am I hearing some reference to, you know, we appreciate your interest and certainly look forward to reviewing your applications in the future for future vacancies?

>> sure.

>> would that be appropriate?

>> the court asked me to advise you that future appointments will occur and put dates in them.

>> okay.

>> now, the problem, though, is we have done a pretty good job of reappointing those who have good attendance and a continuing interest and serving on the different or boards and committees that we have, I am not sure I see that changing, but vacancies do occur.

>> yes.
and not always on cycle.
so --

>> and we never know when somebody may come up and said, you know, I have accepted other obligations and I appreciate serving and I am ready to step down, so --

>> and it is sometimes a relief for current board members to know there are great people standing in the wings, should they become overwhelmed.

>> let's do it.

>> we will be glad to.

>> thank you.

>> with that, ms.
porter, we have no further business today, right?

>> we adjourn.

>> all those in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
