Travis County Commissioners Court
February 17, 2009, 2009
Item 21
>> now, a couple of easy ones that we'll try to get three items this morning.
mr.
byes is here to give clarification on number 21, the matter involving the da.
21 is to approve contract number ps 079016 ml to or or chid cell mark for professional dna consulting and analysis services.
what's the status of this?
item?
>> good morning, judge, Commissioners.
marvin bryce.
the contracts are now in our office.
we have received them back from the contractor signed.
we need to dpit the purchasing agent, county attorney and county auditor's signatures on those, which we think we can accomplish today and have down to the court.
>> all right.
so call this up late this afternoon?
>> yes, sir.
>> because I did -- the da basically has entered a requisition for 8,000 to cover the immediate need.
>> the contract basically, these type of contracts are requirement type contracts.
they are as needed basis as the services arise, the da has a case, a felony case that they're prosecuting, they determine that they need some testing done, dna, whatever, they will then enter a requisition to cover that specific service at that time.
we placed a knot to exceed amount on there just to place a parameter for budgeting purposes.
>> this afternoon okay?
would next week be better?
because $8,000 addresses the immediate need, right?
>> they have tests that they need to have performed.
>> we're okay with the 8,000.
there's money there.
so it wouldn't -- it wouldn't upset me, judge, if you want to approve it this morning.
that's all right.
>> for the 8,000 or the 80?
>> what we're approving, judge, is just the contract itself.
we're saying we're not going to spend more than 80.
we're not obligating $80,000.
>> we're okay.
>> then I move approval.
>> second.
>> any more discussion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
let's try to make sure that we cover, one is the budget items and then let's go to legislation, okay?
we think that we only had one owe on the budget items there was only one area that seemed to generate concern.
what number was the budget item.
