>> 29 is to consider and take appropriate action on lease agreement by the Travis County health care district for the new community health center to be located at ih 35 and rundberg lane.

>> good morning, judge, chris young, I have with me today david

>> [indiscernible] the c.e.o.
of the community health care center of Austin Travis County, you have before you an item that we are required to bring to you under the Texas health and safety code which indicates that the Travis County Commissioners court would authorize real estate transactions that the district undertakes.
this item is specifically related to a lease, a five year lease for a medical building that was previously occupied by a primary care practice.
our intention is to -- to assume the lease of the space and to also add primary care practitioners into the site.
this site was previously occupied by Austin regional clinic.
unfortunately, the services that were provided there by that practice have now left that community and we see this as an opportunity to -- to prevent services from leaving an area that has very significant need.
also gives us an ability to expand our community health services into that jury and allows us to continue planning on a long-term basis to meet the needs of the northeast, north central area.
we see that as kind of an interim step but very opportune time to step in and try to relieve some of the demand that's being placed on the currently on the northeast community health center system.
we know this location is very much in the heart of the population that would seek our offices and we're very excited about the opportunity that was presented to us.
you may all know that this became available -- the announcement that this property was being vacated by Austin regional clinic was made on December 18th and we had -- we worked very quickly with the landlord to secure the property so that it was not secured by another party that was interested in the location, just as much as we were.
so we've had a very quick turn around probably the fastest that we have in terms of trying to negotiate a lease that we felt would give us an immediate ability to -- to put providers there, put staff there, again seeing patients very soon.
if they proceeds as we expect we are hoping to have services begin April first.
starting with some staff and grow that over time.

>> how long was the -- was the Austin regional clinic at this location?

>> I believe it was about 10 years.

>> questions?
i contacted the two people that I -- that I knew about, because they had been here about the braker lane project.
and both of them thought that this was a good location and supported it.

>> all right.

>> I've had a discussion with one of those members as well and they were -- they had expressed to us at the time that the lease became available that they felt that that was a good location.

>> uh-huh, thank you very much for that.

>> thank you.

>> move approval.

>> second.

>> any discussion of the motion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
with Commissioner Davis temporarily off the dais.
thank you very much.

>> thank you.
