2. Approve proclamation recognizing the ladies auxiliary to the veterans of foreign wars annual mid-winter conference. Anybody here to receive this? Come forward. We were expecting -- this is the Texas president and secretary. And another --

>> okay. So should I read it?

>> please.

>> was there another -- another person eager to read?

>> you did it so well.

>> I like to hear myself anyway. So -- it reads: whereas the ladies auxiliary to the veterans of foreign wars, vfw, has diligently provided support, opportunity and appreciation to all veterans and their families since 1914, whereas volunteer and community service work has been a pivotal role of the ladies auxiliary vfw since becoming the second national program adopted in 1928, a program that provides american troops medical attention, cheerful smiles and hartening words of encouragement. Whereas the 95th national convention, the national president to the ladies auxiliary to the veterans of foreign wars introduced the 2008-2009 theme: our dreams become rainbows, encouraging members that when they work together, their hard work for veterans and their communities become rainbows of hope for our country and whereas from January 29th to February 1st, 2009, the ladies auxiliary vfw will hold its state-wide mid winter roundup conference in Travis County, Texas. Now therefore be it resolved that we the Travis County Commissioners court do hereby recognize and welcome dixie heild national president to Travis County. The city of Austin wants us to add spend as much money as you can while here.

>> [laughter] I'm sure they will spend lots of money. We thank you for this proclamation. On behalf of the over 34,000 ladies auxiliary members in the state of Texas.

>> many of which will be here and in Austin.

>> okay. Your name.

>> my name is debbie daniel, I'm department president, I'm sorry.

>> that's all right.

>> and we will be here the whole week. So there will be lots of shopping and their husbands -- the veterans of foreign wars they will be over at the double tree. They won't be out much shopping but they will be here, too, I understand there will be some of those that will be here tomorrow. My name is roberta karnely, I'm the department secretary, i, too, would like to thank you very much for proclaiming this proclamation for our department president, debbie daniels and our national president who will be arriving tomorrow afternoon. We appreciate your consideration for this and for all that you do for our veterans in Travis County. Thank you.

>> I would just like to thank you for your time this morning and how gracious you all have been to the veterans of foreign wars in Austin, Texas.

>> well, thank you for coming by. We do have the regional veterans office here in Travis County, so we try to remain actively involved in providing veterans services, so --

>> we appreciate what you all do.

>> appreciate your service.

>> thank you.

>> really appreciate your service. Judge, I second the motion on that.

>> okay. Move approval.

>> second.

>> any other comments? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
