15. Consider and take Appropriate action on Appointments to Austin city Council, Austin independent School district board of Trustees, Travis County Commissioners court joint Subcommittee. I think that I indicated Pretty much a little history Of this in my little short Memo. Out of the clear blue I was Phoned sometime last year by Aisd and they wanted travis County to start attending The meetings that aisd and The city of Austin held Together and to be honest i Won't say we were snookered But the first thing that i Knew we were asked to help Fund the joint sort of back Deal that we helped fund one Year, the sheriff kind of Participated, we withdrew From that because we didn't Think it was that effective. Marvin and I have been Attending these meetings Because we were invited. I think they asked us Because at that particular Time they had items on the Agenda that they thought Travis County should be Interested in and would be Impacted anyway. The meetings have been Quarterly. Sort of routinely pushed off Instead of every three Months, every four or fifth Month, like we didn't meet In December, we were Scheduled to meet, supposed To meet January 31st as This agenda says, January 30th. But I just thought since This is a committee, we While there appear to Represent Travis County, the Commissioners court should Bless it.

>> it started out pretty Well, we thought we could Collaborate on bond Elections when we have them To space them correctly and Realize the impact of taxes On -- on all across the Board. But -- I -- I go when I can. And -- and it's kind of Interesting and -- but i Know that it takes a lot of Work from -- on the part of Everybody, so -- Coordination.

>> they weren't deceitful, But they were right if i Were one of the co-chairs i Would attend the meetings.

>> [laughter] That's what they did to me If not for me.

>> I think we need to kind Of be there certainly so That we don't get assessed Certain costs

>> [laughter], You know. From time to time Without them understanding That it has to come to the Court for approval before we Can release any money.

>> yeah. And to my knowledge the Chair of the aisd board, mr. Williams, has been regular In attendance and -- the Mayor has been fairly Regular for us.

>> uh-huh.

>> I do think this Subcommittee has just great Potential. We have not reached it yet. But we might. And some of the issues are Really timely and important.

>> yeah, they are.

>> I just think that next Year we ought to have this Listed among the committee That's we act on in January.

>> great. Well, I move approval of This -- of the committee, Judge, to continue.

>> okay.

>> discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous Vote. We'll add this to our list Of committees next time, Okay?
