Item 15

View captioned video.

Number 15 is to approve payment of claims and authorize county treasurer to invest county funds.

>> we will need you on the mic, need your name again.

>> okay.

>> hello again y'all, I'm ronnie reeferseed. And I just am wondering what is the -- what is -- I'm sorry I don't -- out of my own ignorance I don't know the facts on these. Just to approve funds seemed kind of -- kind of without -- without information that I would seek to -- to know before -- before it happens.

>> well, each week the county has a long list of -- of claims or invoices. That we need to pay. That list varies from probably I would say 50 to a few hundred. They are routine claims that we owe, this item basically authorizes payment of them. The other part of it is that we have a variety of investments that we make. State law stipulates what we can and cannot invest in. And what this does basically is to authorize county personnel hired to make those investments for us to continue to invest the funds. As funds came in, we will try to put them in a place to earn income for us.

>> so it's kind of a bookkeeping kind of procedure.

>> there's a whole lot of them --

>> forgive my ignorance. I don't know what those words.

>> mr. Reeferseed, I would give you the packet to take a look at it.

>> that would be great. In the future how do citizens get a look at that kind of stuff.

>> all of the backup is -- it's available beforehand, but it's -- it's also available in pdf format afterward on the website. Get --

>> the county judge's office.

>> okay.

>> great. I'm going to have a computer soon so I can join the -- the cyber world with all you other people. I can look at that kind of stuff. Thank you so much.

>> you are welcome. Move approval of 15? Discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. By the way, if you have business with the Commissioners court this morning, you probably ought to head this way. We don't have many items left.
