2. Ratify county judge's receipt of, and/or take other appropriate action with regard to, a petition from Travis County sheriff's officer's association requesting an election on collective bargaining. What I just gave you was an acknowledgment of receipt, I called it, that I handed to the president of the -- of the Travis County sheriff's association. On November 4, 2008. At 3:55. When a box of petitions were delivered to me. And my practice has been, when I do an official act like that, to put it on the court's agenda so the court ratified, so the court will know about it, and two, I feel a whole lot better with the court taking action. The second one is just a note from jim connally, an assistant county attorney, indicating that I should deliver the petitions to d. Lopez in the voter registration department at the tax office, 5501 airport boulevard. On my birthday, November 5th, which I'm still celebrating some say, at about 2:45 I personally delivered that box of petitions to ms. Lopez's office. And this item really is for the court to ratify that. Additional language you can see the lawyer-like stuff and/or that was added by our lawyers, I don't know what they had in mind. But my request is to ratify the judge's receipt of the petition.

>> I so move.

>> we can't advise you in -- we can advise you in executive session on any issues that you might want to know about regarding the acceptance of that petition, but the judge has been fully advised on what that means.

>> why don't we do that for clarification.

>> okay.

>> I would feel a lot better.

>> then at this time we will convene in executive session under consultation with attorney exception to the open meetings act. And get legal advice.

we've returned from executive session where we discussed one item, being number 2, a request to ratify the county judge's receipt of a petition from Travis County sheriff's officer's association requesting an election on collective bargaining. Anybody else here on this item? Then I move that we ratify the judge's receipt of the petition on November 4th and -- 2008.

>> second.

>> discussion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. No further business today.

>> move adjourn.

>> second.

>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. 10:50 a.m.
