13. Declare certain vehicles and equipment as surplus property and sell at public auction pursuant to section 263.151 of the Texas local government code. Question?

>> I just wanted an opportunity -- I'm sorry that I wasn't able to reach you all before voting session. We tried but there was just too short of a time span. Health and human services had requested a vehicle for their agrilife program, there were a lot of pickup trucks on the surplus list. I'm wondering if there is any possibility of working with health and human services on the possible surplus vehicle.

>> there absolutely would be. That wouldn't be a problem. But we first have to get the fleet manager to determine if the vehicle would be road worthy or not. It would be a vehicle that could be added to the fleet as a surplus vehicle, so --

>> it has been discussed some at budget about getting a surplus vehicle for hhs for that purpose. Is there -- is there -- I'm concerned that we may be listing stuff without having a mechanism to get with health and human services to see if there is a vehicle. I mean they are pulling goats --

>> sure, sure.

>> mac joyce in t.n.r. Is the one who gives us this list of the vehicle that's he's determined are not road worthy.

>> what would be the ramifications of not approving this item today to give it another week to see if any -- because there's a significant number of pickup trucks on this list, to see if --

>> we do have an auction pending for the 26th of next month, I believe. I'm sorry the 22nd of next month.

>> November.

>> November.

>> so would it be a monkey wrench in the works if we were --

>> no. We could wait another week and it wouldn't prevent that from happening. We can still be within our time lines to get our advertising done.

>> if I recall, during the budget hearing, when hhs did request that and in fact it was more than a -- more than a truck they wanted something more like an s.u.v. That could hold passengers --

>> any update for us.

>> excuse me.

>> let me finish my thought. What I'm saying is that the fleet persons were present, if I can recall, during this discussion. At this point I thought -- at that point I thought they had identified a vehicle that they could use to do the thing that they needed to do as far as the services they were rendering. Now, that was my impression. What I remember at the budget hearing that the -- was basically something that had been looked in and taken care of.

>> it's possible --

>> it's possible that it has and that vehicle is not listed on this list. We need to get with mac joyce to verify that.

>> if there's no answer we will take another week.

>> I didn't hear --

>> Travis County planning and budget office. I didn't hear all of the discussion. There was a bunch of discussion going on what would be the best way to handle this. Ultimately during markup the Commissioners court approved a new truck for the Texas cooperative extension. That is in the fy '09 budget.

>> okay. That's what it was?

>> that was the ultimate decision.

>> the ultimate decision.

>> there was discussion due to how it would best be handled. Last year it was handled with a loan vehicle but that was temporary, there were discussions of whether or not that should be continued. During markup one of the days the court approved a new truck.

>> okay.

>> so --

>> [multiple voices]

>> a new one.

>> my apologies for gumming up the works.

>> move approval.

>> second.

>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Thank you very much.

>> thank you. 17? Do we have the right people here on 17.
