2. approve resolution celebrating "national 4-h week" in Travis County.
(judge Biscoe) we have visitors today.
should I read the resolution.
it reads whereas the youth and volunteers in a community are it's greatest natural resource.
whereas 4 h is one of the largest youth organizations in Texas with nearly one in every 10 Texas youth involved in 4 h.
whereas 4 h in Texas claims over 658,810 youth members and over 42,500 adults and youth volunteers, while Travis County's 4 h program numbers over 20,000 members and over 400 volunteers.
whereas 4 h is part of the Texas agri life extension services, a program where youth learn together in all kinds of projects, events and activities and whereas 4 h has been helping youth and adults learn, grow and work together, for more than 100 years.
now there ever be it resolved that we the members of Travis County Commissioners court do hereby proclaim October 5th through 11th, 2008, as Travis County 4 h week.
and urge the people of this community to take advantage of the opportunity to become more aware of this special program.
which gives youth the chance to learn together and on their own as part of our -- as part of Travis County 4 h and to join us in recognizing the unique partnership between Travis County and the Texas a&m university system and I move approval.

I'm corey cali, I serve as the agent for the community organized programs. This morning we have some of our community organized members, I will let them introduce themselves, members from our urban program as well.
we're going to let them do the talking.

I'm heather, from the pioneer farms 4 h club and I've been in 4 h for almost five years now.
some of my main projects are family line, entrepreneurship and photography.
mostly this year I have been working on family life.
it goes hand in hand pretty much with my entrepreneurship program or project because I was able to this past year to start my own babysitting service and entrepreneurship program offered 4 h has really helped me understand how to do that properly.
I am kelsey johnson, in the Travis County veterinarian 4 h science club.
this year my main projects are veterinary science and I also do some photography.
I will be submitting some of my photography to the Travis County youth show.
for my veterinary science I have -- I am in a club where we have a program where we do lessons and the lessons, after you complete all of the lessons together in our club we are able to take a test and become certified veterinary assistants.
for that we volunteer at veterinary clinics.
I volunteer at the clinic in Pflugerville.
for other projects, earlier I have also donentology, and -- entemology, 4 h has really let me see how veterinary science works and to be able to help out with the vet clinic, it has really been amazing.
and we have something for you.
we have a -- some paper weights for you.
that celebrate 100 years of 4 h.
and

>> we want you to help us get a grip on the next 100 years.

my name is natasha bailey, I'm here with my fellow mer corps members we represent the Travis County 4 h americorp project, our met to is to make the best better.
america core slogan is getting things done to make the best better.
we serve the youth given the 4 h motto of approach to helping in after school environment.
I teach at hart elementary school, general science and character building.

>> your mom works for the county doesn't she?

>> yes, she does.

>> I'm alex campbell, I work in our animal science program.
so I have an after school program where I help kids at brook elementary school raise animal projects, goats for the Travis County livestock show.
and I also do snacking healthy at rodriguez look and manchaca elementary.

>> my name is stephanie March I also work at hart.
junior master garden and also

>> [indiscernible] with the program.

>> and I'm sarah and I work at wynn elementary school, the kealing middle school and also at the housing authority of the city of Austin site at coronado hills, I do general science, either science and oceanography, weak areas for a lot of kids, really trying to help them succeed in science.

>> we have a lot of great things going on in our program.
we are very unique here in Travis County.
we appreciate the support that you guys give us and we would actually like to invite you guys to come out to our Travis County youth show on January the 10th and 11th.
the capital kids will be showing their goats on that Saturday.
if you have free time definitely come out and see what our great programs have to offer.

>> yesterday -- no, no, yesterday we made trail mix, which, you know, with whole wheat chex and cheerios, the kids were allowed to put a handful of m&m's in there, that was like the highlight.
they went along with the pretzels and raisins all good things.
next week deviled egg boats, novelty item because they are shaped like a boat.
still good for them.
