Travis County Commissioners Court

September 30, 2008
Item 54

54, consider and take appropriate action on amendment of chapter 32.

>> good morning, judge, Commissioners. The item before you is request for redefinition of doing business in the ethics policy. This has come up frequently in negotiating contracts whether they have an intangible service such as insurance or financial services, and we're asking the court to adopt the language in the backup material.

>> this language is -- this sort of standard language in the practice? Where's this language come from, I guess is my only question.

>> it was drafted in the process of negotiations relating to the concerns of an insurance vendor and what -- it is consistent with the concerns I have heard addressed by insurance companies over the years, and it seems reasonable to me considering the type of circumstances that are involved. It also tend to affect banks.

>> this is what you and I discussed.

>> yes, sir.

>> I thought it was the last two lines there reminded me. Any more questions or comments? Move approval.

>> second.

>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Good job. Good job.
