6. Consider and take appropriate action regarding the following: a, allocation of space in the ray martinez building for the community supervision and corrections department (cscd) counseling program and canceling the search for lease space for this cscd counseling program; b, is the schematic layout of the cscd counseling program at the ray martinez building; and c, reallocation of funds to cover the renovation costs for the cscd counseling program. Good morning, roger el khoury, director of facilities management department.

>> good morning, roger.

>> we worked with cscd on locating a new space for the counseling program. It used to be called the treatment center. Because cscd and mhmr unit moved from precinct 4 office building, which is now ray martinez building to 4920 i-35 in a lease space, some space vacated at the ray martinez building. So the counseling program can fit in that particular space. We did work with cscd on their program requirements, that was how we came up with a schematic design for your approval. The cscd agreed to the new layout that we have at the ray martinez building. We also recommend that the court cancel the lease search for the counseling program. Right now we were under the the -- the task to do -- to find a lease space for the counseling program. And we did find one time, you know, counseling program place on 11th street and then did not work. We -- we looked somewhere else. We hired a broker. He looked for some space for us and we found a couple of spaces, but we put them on hold until this idea can be thought through, you know, about the new location for the counseling program at ray martinez building. Also, regarding the funding, we do have the funding and budgeted in facility management. Part of it. Then the other one, the other part is budgeted and earmarked in allocated reserve. When the court approved the fund to go find the lease space, they approved $116,000 to do i.p.s. Work for the new -- for the new space whatever we can -- wherever we can find the lease space. Then we earmark on

>> [indiscernible] reserve an amount to cover the annual lease which is about $112,000. So -- so I have in the back up a spread sheet shown to you what available funds we have, what the estimated costs of the project and including renovation, i.t.s., infrastructure and security total of 163,000. So the available budget we have is 228,160, if you did that, 163, we have a total savings, go back to the fund balance of 65,158. I recommend approval.

>> how is it this space became available.

>> because the cscd mhmr unit moved from the ray martinez building to 4920 i-35 at the lease space. That was another program approved by the court.

>> so this space was previously occupied by cscd?

>> correct.

>> okay. Questions? Comments?

>>

>> [multiple voices]

>> they were all in thumbs up?

>> I think -- I think that the program is there, when we had that building --

>> right.

>> went to all of the neighborhood --

>> [multiple voices]

>> right.

>> the neighborhood -- they came later, they changed the zoning on this.

>> exactly.

>> and the program, if I remember, runs in the evening?

>> it does.

>> right?

>> uh-huh.

>> yes. Commissioner, the counseling and treatment sessions normally would be in the evening hours.

>> right. And so therefore parking would be available once people leave, the employees leave and their parking would be available.

>> parking should not be a problem.

>> may he remind the court -- may I remind the court, we are almost done designing an additional 75 parking space at the ray martinez building. The court approved that. And we are going to start construction next month, you know, at the --

>> there is a bus line that runs that way in case people need to take the bus out there and then take it back home I guess. Catch the bus back home?

>> I believe so, yes, Commissioner.

>> okay. So how long do the classes -- what time would the classes all be over?

>> typically the classes will run 6:00 to 8:00.

>> okay. So 8:00 is still a good time for them to catch the bus back into town. Or wherever they live.

>> we are currently running classes out there now. In the evening,s, so yes there shouldn't be any problem, just a continuation of that.

>> it's adjacent to the red line which should be up and running at the latest by spring.

>> I'm not sure about the red line.

>> yeah I'm not sure.

>> I don't think it's going to go anywhere --

>> it's not going way out there yet. It's airport boulevard.

>> no.

>> no

>> [multiple voices]

>> mhmr and 49th.

>> okay.

>> I don't see any problem with this judge.

>> move approval.

>> second.

>> a, b and c.

>> yeah.

>> discussion?

>> this was previously the -- the previous location that we had discussed was the one at 12th street east of i-35.

>> right. All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.

>> thank you.

>> thank you all.

>> thank you.
