Northwest Travis County Road District #3
Let's call to order the northwest Travis County road district number 3, otherwise known as the golden triangle. 1. Approve payment of claims and authorize county treasurer to invest road district funds. There are no investments but there are claims.
>> move approval.
>> that is that claims be paid.
>> uh-huh.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. With director eckhardt absent. 2. Consider and take appropriate action on recommended maximum tax rate and proposed fiscal year 2009 road district budget.
>> where are we at?
>> and if we would look at your backup -- at our backup, we do have a certified taxable value that increased from 475 million to exactly $497,215,367, an increase of 4.5%. And mr. Nellis agrees with -- with lad patillo that based upon the increase in property value, it would be before you department to set a -- predent to set a tax rate of .11. And I move that we set the the -- tax rate at .11.
>> second.
>> discussion? And there's other backup to support setting the rate at that amount.
>> okay.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
>> move adjourn.
>> second.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote, also.
judge, let me -- let me go back. I think we need to go back and revisit something back on the -- on the northwest road district number 2. I think that -- that you had -- we voted on setting the tax rate at .11.
>> uh-huh.
>> 0. That is -- that is the rollback rate. I think the rate that we need to be putting there is the maximum unit rate of .1005. Because the .1100 is the rollback rate.
>> that's in the backup?
>> it is in the backup. Judge --
>> let me just grab it.
>> rollback rate.
>> [indiscernible]
>> the recommendation was to set it at the .1005.
>> no. The recommendation was set it at .11.
>> to set it -- at the rollback? Why would we set it at the rollback rate?
>> well, this road district is not quite the same as doing a road-back in Travis County. We can have that clarified next week.
>> can we bring that one back. That's a little confusing -- john is --
>>
>> [indiscernible]
>> you adjourned the meeting.
>> but it clearly says --
>> yeah.
>> okay.
>> can we -- can we put it back on next week if we want to reverify.
>> if we need to. If we don't need to change it we don't need it back on.
>> correct, yes. If you want to have another meeting next week to reconsider.
>> maybe that's just what we ought to do. Okay.
>> meantime check and see if that's correct. Maybe we don't need the meeting.
>> the memo clearly said --
>> yeah.
>> I guess you are right I mean I read the memo but, I mean, it also -- the roll back rate always makes me pause about oh, we are setting it at that.
>> but I think that we have been doing that for corporations, haven't we? We never do it for Travis County.
>> right.
>> but we'll con tim that.
>> we'll check it -- confirm that.
>> we will check it, yeah.
>> okay.
