Item 25

Now, number 25, discuss and take appropriate action on proposed testimony to the Texas senate committee on international relations and trade on policies relating to development and growth in rural and unincorporated residence of the state. Move approval.

>> second.

>> discussion?

>> judge?

>> yes, sir.

>> I don't want to vote against this, but I'm not -- I'm not in favor of unanimous court going over, you know, with all the things that are in here. So if it's a simple vote of are we going over and asking for these things unanimously as a court, I want to go on record as not being supportive of that. So I guess that's the -- maybe just that simple. That's fine. Commissioner eckhardt is going to go over and I'd like for her at least to say, I mean, I'm over here to represent everybody except Commissioner Daugherty for this because I think there are things in here that's going to kill us in the legislature. We're not going to have a -- we're going the walk away from the legislature in 2009 just like in 2007 and we're not going to get these things and I think that's unfortunate because there are things that the county needs, but this is, in my opinion, is dead on arrival. But that's not to say that, you know, you don't ask for a lot of things, but -- and sometimes you get them, sometimes you don't.

>> sometimes you ask for this, maybe you will get one or two of them. You got to start somewhere, though. And maybe just like picking fruit off a tree. You know, you pick the first one. Anyway.

>> any more discussion? All in favor? Show Commissioners Gomez, eckhardt, Davis, yours truly voting in favor. Voting against Commissioner Daugherty.
