Travis County Commissioners Court
May 27, 2008
Item 24
24 is to consider and take appropriate action on agreement for transport helicopter services among Travis County, st. David's medical center and pediatrix medical services inc., d/b/a pediatrix medical group of Texas. >> good morning. I’m danny hobby, the executive manager of emergency services and with me is casey king with the starflight program. This agreement exists today -- it started several years ago when we established the agreement for the purpose of transporting neo natal patients, critical care children, from hospitals outside of Travis County into Travis County you. This particular agreement actually expires in June of this year, next month. The reason why we're bringing it before you now is we've had a request from st. David's that they would like to by June 1st start the transports for maternal transports -- patients. So we decided upon discussion with legal that it may be best to go ahead and do a new agreement and put them both in there rather than just do an amendment. So that's what you see here is the basic agreement that you already have in place with st. David's and we just simply added maternal transports. That's the only change to the agreement. And so again, we could have done it both ways and it was agreed upon that we send it up as a new agreement starting now.
>> so the maternal transports, who do we rely on for payment?
>> the patient. We treat this just like we would any transport.
>> so the other parts of this agreement are the same?
>> yes, sir.
>> discussion?
>> move approval.
>> second.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Thank you.
