Travis County Commissioners Court
May 6, 2008
Item 8
Number 8, discuss and take appropriate action on request for services, rfs, solicitation for legislative services and authorize purchasing agent to issue rfs. And I need another week on this myself, but I’m happy to discuss any issues we need to. When we passed our motion two weeks ago, I think our goal was to approve a rfs next week. We did get a draft yesterday. Everybody else in the same position I am?
>> I would like more time to review it. There was one question I know off of that that I wanted to throw in regarding conflicts of interest. There's a conflicts of interest form but it only goes to those with crlts with the county. I’m wondering who don't have contracts with the county who are also adverse to that if they represent them.
>> have it back on the 13th?
>> right. Any other points that should be added or -- if we need to take some of the -- some long out, that's fine too. But that will be may 12th.
>> 13th.
>> may 13th. Thank you. Just trying to keep you on your toes. Every now and then I have to check. Now, if ms. Fleming is headed this way, we're in good shape. 25 is consider and take appropriate action regarding a request from the Texas department of transportation to appoint a member to the yief segment corridor committee. This invitation came out of the clear blue and apparently in some areas the county judge serves on this committee. Other areas a court member does, and I assume that appropriate county staff can meet this requirement also. But it's regarding the corridor committee. And actually when I look at the map, it looked like it's a new corridor that is east of i-35. Not necessarily the Austin-san antonio corridor.
>> I think it's the transtexas corridor. If anybody wants to sign up for that baby.
>> I assume it could be an invitation that we decline. Send them a note back saying thanks but no thanks.
>> it's not specific to ip35?
>> no, it's east of ip35. It's one of those corridor deals.
>> I mean, I got the impression that --
>> no one seemed to know where the alignment is. They have a suspicion, but no one has really laid out this is the line exactly, this is it, you know, specific.
>> I haven't heard much of in favor of it.
>> from residents of central Texas counties.
>> I’m happy to take another week and see if I can pull a little more information about it, ask a few questions and bring it back next week. Can we do that?
>> yes, sir.
>> and let everybody know what information I get on it.
>> that's fine with me.
>> and if you do that, if you can, I mean questions have been asked exactly specifically what is the location. There's a lot of folks out there from bastrop asking the same question.
>> Commissioner, I think the reason that the question continues to be asked, I don't think there is a definitive location. It is somewhere out here, and on the backup if you look, this part makes it look like that this is the corridor -- that this is our sh 130 as it goes through our campo, our n.p.o. And that is sort of the -- you know, the 130 corridor.
>> and the speculation has been it will be part, but that's never been --
>> never been written down and said this is it. So anyway.
>> I’ll get the court specifics on 25 and make sure everybody gets it before next week.
>> thanks.
