Item 39

39 is to consider and take appropriate action be on request to change section 32.015, financial disclosure reporting system of the Travis County code consistent with recent statutory amends ments. John, this is fairly straightforward but I thought we at least should go ahead and sort of discuss it openly so that impacted officials would know about the changes.

>> the recent changes in the law affect primarily appointed officers. The major change is that they now have 30 days rather than 14 days. This is for the initial year. Then for each year thereafter the deadline is April 30. This way the system remains streamlined. With regard to justices of the peace, the change is primarily clerical. They are now covered under subchapter, chapter 159, rather than this policy. So I just changed the language to reflect that.

>> okay. This is for the filing of the financial disclosure.

>> reporting system, yes.

>> reporting system. Where do you get that? Do you get that form from the county clerk?

>> yes.

>> and if you have been an appointed official, you should know about this requirement. Right should have been filing these forms.

>> yes.

>> these two cages, you should be aware of--changes, you should be aware of.

>> yes. Well, for the first year of your appointment they are due within 30 days after the date of appointment or qualification, whichever is earlier. Each year thereafter it's April 30. This way the system is streamlined county clerk's office is happy.

>> if you wonder whether you are impacted, you would contact either the county attorney or any member of the Commissioners court, we would send you the backup. And it has the affected offices.

>> yes.

>> an example of this, judge, that was appointed to 427.

>> one of the district courts.

>> so she was, she is a judge through appointment.

>> uh-huh.

>> is that what we are talking about? This is official. Would be normally elected officials. They are in the position because they have been point that's.

>> --

>> that's correct. After the first year it's April 30.

>> all of the offices are listed somewhere in this.

>> they are, a very detailed policy. I do want to emphasize, other than the changes and some clarifying language, I didn't make any whole sale changes in the policy or anything like that.

>> okay.

>> move approval.

>> second.

>> anymore discussion? All in favor. That passes by unanimous vote.
