Number 24, consider and take appropriate action on the following automobile total loss claim rqjjzs for the , 2006, eptember thros.$jjutjtr

>> judge, I read throug$ all of these. I think basically, I think much better records are being kept on these and explanation as to why they were totaled and whose fault and what action was taken by the department, which I think is much, kind of in keeping with what we were addressing at one time. Then I think much better records are being kept on these issues. I want to say thanks to everybody on that. That's what we were looking for all along and still, it adds up. I’d pend the money on salaries than on replacing cars. Nonetheless, I understand. And I appreciate the work that has been done. I would move approval of all of them.

>> do I immediate to read the entire item?

>> there is one correction that I’d like to make.

>> is it, can we take these by category? Nonfault means the other part was at fault.

>> correct.

>> second on the motion.k"eqra(n

>> I have one question. Do we have an issue with the placement of the computers in the patrol cars?

>> you want to respond to that?

>> we had the same question.

>> moi --my thought is it's very much like cell phones. If you are going to utilize for something that you need, can we pull over and do that safe.

>> although if you are in pursuit or on a callve I wonder if there's an ergo nomic fix.

>> we're working with the sheri##raddepartment. They may have some more recent information.

>> we are looking at technology to address some of that. Sorry, scott bureaus with the sheriff's office. We changed that with priority 1 calls we have the dispatcher read the information instead of then looking at the nvc, but I can't come up and make excuses. We are people and make bone headed mistakes, make errors driving. To keep everything in kind of perspective for y'all, we put about 5.6 million miles on our cars last year. 100,000 miles a week. Conservatively, probably 2,000 transactions a day. We've got five at fault collisions where we totaled a vehicle.

>> I understand. Totally understand. It's just that if we can find a safer way of doing it would be great for the officers and the public.

>> only two of them were described as having an issue with having to, responding and looking down at the monitor.

>> yes.

>> only two. A small number. I’m just wondering if there is some sort of easy, apparently there is one t$pou have already employed which is reading out the material rather than looking down at the screen.

>> right.

>> still cost prohibitive at this point looking from a business perspective also. We're constantly monitoring the iechqolot. To see whaara$arpp I don't know if there's ever going to be a perfect technology particularly with an urban environment and the congestion ahat we deal with.

>> sure.

>> I appreciate anything else.

>> do have one correction, judge to the memorandum just for the record we did provide you with a copy.

>> okay.

>> on page 1 at the bottom where it, the last, next to the last whertransfer u amount four--for your approval, that should read 534,385 as opposed to 322. That should be 385.

>> okay.

>> all right.

>> we'll give a corrected copy to the clerk. Then you want to--

>> a through j? All in favor. That passes by unanimous vote. Those were the ones that somebody else caused.

>> didn't have insurance and fled, different rqpajjuk through p we were at fault.

>> those are the once that I think we're doing much better in correct tuntive action.

>> and documentation be.

>> rig$a.

>> I move approval of k through p.

>> second.

>> discussion? When we settle these, that means basically the money is available to the department to purchase replacement vehicle. Nd equipment.$a

>> discussion. All in favor. That passes by unanimous vote. Thank you very much. Having an agressive plan to curb some of.

>> and also facility management.
