Travis County Commissioners Court
October 30, 2007
Item 22
Christian, instead of yours, let's get ms. Fleming. That will be real fast. I don't know whether we have issues or not. And the hhs one really is for to us authorize posting of a certain position pending a contract and receipt of funds. And I thought I'd put this on recommendation for consent. 22 is to consider and take appropriate action on posting of the position of project direct four the parenting in recovery project, a five-year, 500,000-dollar per year federal grant awarded by the administration for comirn and families.
>> good afternoon, judge and Commissioners. Sherri fleming, executive manager for health and human services and veteran service. Travis County is the recipient of a grant through the administration for children and families to support a proposal submitted hhs and various community partners for a parenting and recovery program. We were notified as many departments from the auditors office that because of a change in state law resulting from house bill 2365, there was some particular language related to our accounting that the auditor is interested in ensuring that our contract agreements exclude if it's a part of it or it's not included if we draft them. For that reason the auditor has not so far certified the funding for this particular grant. Hhs is proposing that we use a general fund position to secure this posting until the funding is certified or until we have to come back to you for other arrangements related to this funding so that we're able to post the positive project direct four this position.
>> we can post and make the offer, but we really won't fill it until it is clear on the grant.
>> that is right.
>> but it will take some time to post it and interview. So we may as well go ahead and start down the road.
>> yes. We will not post the other slot that we're using for this until this one is clear.
>> okay.
>> and the auditor will be visiting with members of the court if she has not done so already? We just lost our quorum. It's not the quirs time it's happened, but it's the first time it's happened that I can recall. We will stand in recess for five minutes and when our Commissioners court gets energized, we'll start back up.
>> move approval. This is tunnel number 22 that -- this is item number 22 that we were discussing until the county judge announce add 30-second recess a moment ago. All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. With Commissioners Davis and Daugherty temporarily off the dais.
