Citizens communication

View captioned video.

Citizens communication is next. This item to give residents an opportunity to address the Commissioners court on any matter not on the agenda. For up to 3 minutes. Allan rod did I is first. And he will be followed by -- zeta and josie.

>> good morning.

>> yes, sir.

>> I was here last Tuesday. I plan on making this a regular event here until I get some answers from the west bank community library district on how they choose the new name for their branch library. I was wondering who has oversight of this library district. I know that -- that state set it up, but I don't have anybody to go to there to question them. Apparently last December they voted on a name, but put restrictions on that and never bothered to come around to the neighborhood groups to ask for our input. So -- so I was just wondering who do we go to? Do I go to my state legislator, come to you all. They get over a million dollars in taxes, I believe that they are headed toward another pedernales electric co-op type of thing. They have their monthly meetings at 8:30 instead of in the evening when people can come around, see what's going on. The public library stays open until 8:00 every night during the week. I don't think this is a problem for them to have their hour-long meetings. Who watches over the volunteer fire departments. Other taxes jurisdictions in Travis County. This library district and their agenda says they are working on a written policy to -- to name buildings. But at the same time they are also working on naming the building. This is not good policy, I have worked in the army, with the city, everybody has policies and procedures, I assume that the county does, too, again, who did I go to?

>> the board is elected by the residents of the district.

>> that's who you go to. The board?

>> the board.

>> when the board is up for election, try to vote them out of office.

>> well, they went to the justice department, they had -- polling places --

>> you will have an opportunity to deliberate during this item. That's why I kind of listened to you first. But in response to your question, if the board is elected by the residents of the district, you go to them first. Try to vote them. Go to the legislature and try to have the law changed, by the voters, that's who they answer to. That's who they are through the justice department. So it's an uphill battle.

>> have you ever had any political aspirations.

>> no. Go to the government every once in a while, but in a nice way, a friendly way.

>> thank you.

>> good luck to you.

>> okay. Zeta and josie from hrmd. Our zeta and josie. They will be followed by stacy sheffield.

>> good morning.

>> [indiscernible] plaza. Bring a friend or buddy to sign up for the run tex university 12 week training program for only $25. This will lead you up to the brown santa 5 k on December the 2nd.

>> the wellness clinic is going to be there providing blood pressure checks, health education information and an opportunity to ask the doctor any questions that you might have about anybody in particular.

>> there will be speakers and vendors on hand to motivate us all to live a healthier lievment drawings and give aways will be held throughout the event, so bring your Travis County i.d. To participate.

>> that's our announcement.

>> great.

>> thank you.

>> this Friday.

>> this Friday.

>> okay.

>> thank you.

>> thank you all.

>> for the -- for the schedule of events go to the public announcements, you will see the schedule of event and the vendors that will be on site.

>> there's lots of give aways.

>> lots and lots of fun stuff.

>> including food and water bottles and all kinds of stuff.

>> give aways, we are looking at possibly giving like four -- an opportunity to give like four prizes every hour. That's how many contributions we have gotten.

>> as well as $25 for a 12 week running course for run tex, that's great.

>> yes.

>> thank you.

>> thank you all.

>> ms. Sheffield? How do you pronounce your last name.
