>> let's take 3 then. We'll call the county clerk's item up. 3 is presentation from tax assessor-collector regarding best practices awards received from Texas association of counties. Good morning.
>> good morning, judge, Commissioners. Nelda spears, Travis County tax office. I am here this morning to bring to your attention two awards that Travis County has received from the Texas association of counties leadership foundation. We submitted -- the tax office submitted two studies to the leadership foundation during their call for proposal for this year's awards, best practices awards. And we were notified not long ago, maybe a month, that we had been chosen to receive two of tax 2007 best practices award. One is for the technology -- in the technology category, and it's the same program we presented to you about a month ago where we used technology to assist taxpayers and small business in using our internet site. And the second is -- the second award, best practice award, is for exceptional service in customer service. And we had done a proposal based around a program that we kicked off last year in the tax office call center. The call center receives about 1200 calls each day, and our ideal is for the people in the call center to be able to answer the citizens' questions without referring them calls out to one of the operational areas. And we also -- the other objective of that was to reduce turnover in the call center. It's a fairly high burnout job and we reconfigured some things and did some retraining and retooling of the staff there, and since -- over the past year, since about June of '06, we have seen a reduction in the turnover rate as a result of this, and this case study was also submitted to t.a.c. And received an award. And on Thursday, August 16th, just Biscoe and I will be at the annual conference to receive this award. Thank you.
