Let's skip the consent items and good go to number two, dhos declare proclamation declaring July 21st, 2007 as Austin-Travis County veterans service and sacrifice day in Travis County. And should I read the proclamation?

>> yes, sir.

>> it reads, whereas Austin Travis County veterans from several local organizations and individuals in conjunction with the Austin history center and Austin public library have gathered archival records representing the many contributions of military servicemen and women and who call the Travis County region their home, whereas Austin Travis County veterans have made significant sacrifices in service and in defense of the freedoms we enjoy in the united states of america. Whereas this service is worthy of highest recognition. Whereas the story of the Austin-Travis County veterans is one of distinction that enriches our understanding of our role as citizens and denl accuracy. Whereas the department of veterans' affairs reports that 60,000 veterans reside in Travis County and whereas Travis County veteran wills sponsor the exhibit Austin Travis County veteran service and sacrifice in the lobby and grand hallway of the Austin history center and public library at 810 guadalupe street, that's right down the street there. Now therefore be it resolved that we the members of the Travis County Commissioners court do here by proclaim July 21st, 2007 as Austin-Travis County veterans' service and sacrifice day. In Travis County. And encourage all residents of Travis County to join us in recognizing the special and significant contributions of Austin Travis County veterans, and I move approval.

>> heritage, patism, service and -- patriotism, service and sacrifice is a group of words that the steering committee took to heart. These are members of the steering committee here recommending the commander of the tejanos in action. Sue with the Austin history center. And dan.

>> no, david.

>> david, a member of the Texas -- at the time han knows in action.

>> and a Travis County retiree.

>> with this program the individuals here wanted to take the opportunity to have the Travis County veterans archives preserved for eternity. And these are the individuals that are making that possible. I'll furnish the table over to the comabler and let him tell you --

>> my name is dan and I'm the commander of tejanos in action. And I'm also the chairman of the Austin-Travis County service and sacrifice. This Saturday the program commences at 2:00 p.m. With patriotic music by the quarter rangers. We will have city officials, county officials and the judge will be our honorable speaker, with the congressman from the u.s. District 25, the honorable congressman lloyd doggett. We invite all of you all to attend. This is a great honor for Austin and Travis County veterans. This is something that started back in December. We approached sue from the Austin history center and she said it's a terrific idea. Of course, this was david's idea and somehow because I didn't show up to a meeting, I was elected as chairman.

>> [ laughter ] that's the way it goes. And we want to thank sue and the diligent, hard work that the Austin history center has done for the veterans of Austin and Travis County.

>> my name is sue soy. I'm the manager at the Austin history center. Thank you very foch offering this proclamation and we hope that you will come see it.

>> thank you. I would like to add to all that's been said here is that the exhibit will be on display from the 16th of July of this year through January 11th of 2008. So we have almost six months for any and everyone that wishes to come and visit the exhibit to come by there judge, it's just down the street, one block. We look forward to seeing you there Saturday and all the other members of the Commissioners court as well. We appreciate what you're doing for the veterans.

>> also with us is will brown with the military service coalition.

>> there is well over 100 groups in Austin that make up the Austin military service coalition. And we stand in awe of the service groups.

>> we have a program to present to you, each one of you. And also at the same time, the ladies snuck one in on us here. The Texas women's veterans, they will have their first annual gathering, their summer picnic will be at the same time. Not necessarily the same time, but from 12 to 3:00, but right next door to us. I want to present that to you also. And lastly, pray fwhiernld for our men and women in uniform. And god bless our veterans.
