View captioned video.

We have adjourned our voting session that we started early this morning, and we have a 6:00 public hearing is scheduled which we are about to call to order.
it is one to receive public comment from residents of Travis County regarding the proposed actions related to the community development block grant funds from the united states department of housing and urban affairs, office of community planning and development including, a, amendment to the 2006 through 2010 consolidated plan's strategic direction.
b, substantial amendment to the program year 2006 annual action plan; and c, program year 2007 annual action plan, second public hearing.
Commissioner Davis moved that we open the public hearing and that was seconded by Commissioner Gomez.

>> good evening.
I'm Travis County health and human services.
today we're asking for public comment on three different items, Travis County receives community development block grant funding from the department of housing and urban development.
and so today we are asking for public comments on the strategic direction which we narrowed from 17 high priority categories to seven priority -- high priority categories related to a reduction in the allocation that we received.
basically we -- there was an error when we originally received our allocation amount.
amount.
originally it was $2.4 million and then I i under stoo 2000 it was a $1.6 million error so we receive $136,000 annually.
so we reduced to 7 categories action which include water and sewer improvements, street improvements, owner housing, production of new units, owner housing rehabilitation of existing units, infrastructure to support affordable housing development, youth services and public services.
in addition we are requesting public comment on the proposed changes to the program year 56 annual action plan.
we are anticipating -- or proposing to delete the youth services project where that was a flex expansion project that provided tutoring and mentoring services to youth.
we will still provide those social security services.
however that will be provided through the general fund rather than with community block grant dollars and we are asking to move that $5,000 into the apache shores street improvement project.
in terms of the pys 7 afternoon action plan we are requesting comment on the proposed uses.
the dollar amount for py '07 is $848,245.
we have four different projects that are proposed.
the first one is owner housing production of new units, bl land acquisition in the amounts of $195,018.
the public project is street improvements for substandard roads in apache shores in the amount of $500,000.
the third project is public services and that's to continue the family support services social work services expansion project and that's in the amount of $64,000.
and then finally planning for water, sewer and other project planning in the amount of $88,727.
and just a note that at this point the court has agreed to fund the administrative dollars needed to administer this grant through the general fund.
so today we're requesting public comment on those items. And that's it.

>> would anyone like to give testimony during this public hearing?
if so, please come forward.
and for the record, Commissioner eckhardt is with us.
she's replenishing her nourishment.

>> no takers?

>> what's the next public hearing?
is it on Tuesday?

my email is christy.moffett@co.travis.tx.u..

box 738: if you have questions you can call me and I can say 8 a and if they dn't that informatioountact e Commissioners urt we'll t yoin t wem.

>> at any of the community centers.

>> thank you.
