Travis County Commissioners Court

Item 23

Now let's call back to order the voting session of the Travis County Commissioners court, turning briefly to item no. 23. Yesterday I did try to gather the backup that we received back in January. That did a pretty good job of laying out three or four options that we have available to us. What I wanted to do today is simply butt this back on our agenda, on our radar. So hopefully we will be prepared to take action next week. We can do nothing and that -- that basically is leaving the status quo in place or we can hire such a person and by the way that is to discuss and take appropriate action on feasibility of creating a position to perform public information intergovernmental relations and legislative duties at Travis County. We can do as we have been doing. -- this person, half time support person. The other option was a more elaborate option, that is to have like a small office of -- I think the recommendation was of three people. We have managed to get most of this done every other year during the legislative session. Excluding theublic information intergovernmental relations part. And so the question really is how important is it for us to go ahead and try to do something a bit more systematic and comprehensive in dealing with these duties and responsibilities. In the future. So that backup that we got was from my executive managers and some court members and I think does a real good job of laying out different perspectives, different reasons. So if we would just try to review that next week and maybe land on our individual ideas and -- and maybe we will be ready to give direction, take action of some sort.

>> okay.

>> so -- so on number 23, we will have that back on the court's agenda next week and hopefully for more discussion and -- and action.
