Number 4 is next and that is to approve resolution recognizing the 35th year of the retired senior volunteer program, more commonly known as rsvp. And the resolution reads: whereas one of our nation's most precious natural resources is the collective experience and abilities of our older citizens, whereas Travis County rsvp meets critical community needs by recruiting and placing older adults into volunteer positions at local nonprofit, faith-based, non-proprietary health care and public agency. Whereas these nonprofit and public agency are addressing some of our community's most critical needs in the area of health, education, social services, public safety and the environment. Whereas last year alone 1 1,132 rsvp volunteers contribute thousands of hours of service to public organizations and agencies throughout Travis County. Whereas in fy 2006 the value of services donated by rsvp volunteers produced a 12 12 fold return to the taxpayers of Travis County. The impact of rsvp volunteer service in 2006 translated to an added value of $3,831,271. Whereas rsvp offers opportunities for people age 55 and over to actively participate in the life of their communities through significant and meaningful volunteer service, it provides an avenue to live a longer, healthier life. Whereas the corporation of national and community service has acknowledged Travis County rsvp as a state leader in the areas of volunteer management and program development. Whereas the month of may is recognized nationally as older americans month and whereas this is the 35th anniversary of the rsvp program in Travis County. Now therefore be it resolved that the Travis County Commissioner court urge all citizens to focus on the achievements of the rsvp volunteers and show appreciation for their service. And I move approval.

>> second.

>> morning. Uferltd good morning. Thank you, judge, thank you, Commissioners. I'm the director of rsvp and to my right is sherri flemg, the executive manager of Travis County health and human services and veteran services. A pleasure to be here this morning. I look forward to seeing each one of you on Thursday, two days from today at noon at the hyatt hotel to celebrate a very special occasion, that is, the 35th anniversary of rsvp, and also to recognize some very distinguished guests, your 1,132 rsvp volunteers. And yes, judge, when you all turn 55, you will be eligible to become part of rsvp and join a growing population of concerned and carrying citizens who are responding to our invitation to serve, who are taking action, who are giving back and who want to make this community a healthier and better place to live. So let me be the first to extend from rsvp an invitation to serve. And that actually introduces our new tag line, your invitation to serve. Thank you.

>> some of the younger members of the court left the dais when you start talking about older citizens.

>> [ laughter ] but I'm happy to say count me among them! We are blessed with hundreds of volunteers here in Travis County, and annually it amazes me how much they contribute to our nonprofit agencies and residents and the programs are outstanding.

>> I look forward to this luncheon.

>> look forward to seeing you there. Thank you.

>> we've always been invited to go free of charge --

>> and you are again.

>> don't wait and send us a tab for the last 15 years. Bill us annually. We look forward to joining you. All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote with Commissioner eckhardt temporarily off the dais. Be and we have a are beautiful proclamation -- and we have a beautiful proclamation to give you.

>> [ applause ]

>> one of these days we'll be able to frame these for you.

>> [ laughter ]
