Travis County Commissioners Court
May 1, 2007
Item 35
35.
>> approve contract accord for copy paper, ifb number b 070 72 lb to the low bidder, western paper.
>> I think your concerns were the same as mine was.
>> I was wondering if we post consumer content in the paper in the r.f.p.
>> we have had problems with recycled paper. It causes our purchases to jam up because of the content. It causes a lot of dust. So our copiers -- over the years we've tried to use recycled paper and it has not been cost effective. Currently on the state contract you can buy virgin paper for $29.12 a case and recycled paper is $38.33 a case. And our bid is $24 a case. So that's -- we've tried recycled paper and it's causing problems.
>> the machines can't handle it?
>> well, I'm impressed with doing two sided copies of everything.
>> I agree with that. My point was 10,000 cases of paper.
>> 10,560 cases.
>> to be exact.
>> [ laughter ]
>> over 10,000 cases of paper. I agree, I think if you double side it -- it probably takes some time, but I think we need to try to find a way to conserve this paper. Holy smokes.
>> I have some folks in my office, some of my folks are really good about doing double sided contracts and some aren't. So it is really habit. It is something that we should push. And also, my backup, I could leave some of this out if y'all didn't want like the bid tabs be and that sort of stuff.
>> I like the information, but I would like to see it on double sided paper.
>> I proof approval of 35.
>> second.
>> all in favor? Okay.
>> for the general public, two-sided copying, please.
>> another quick one?
>> thank y'all. .
