Number two is a public hearing to receive comments on proposed election precinct realignments.

>> move the public hearing be opened.

>> second.

>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.

>> good morning. Two weeks ago we came before to you explain what we are doing. Essentially every two years we are required to look at precinct lines to determine whether or not we have over the paks muslim number of registered -- if we have over the maximum number of registered vote voeter and if we have polling place concerns. We do not have any precincts with over 5,000 registered voters, that is not the issue today. What we are talking about is concerns with polling places. We have a list of the recommendations we have before you. You have as part of your backup a legal document like this, legal size document, three pages in length, with our recommendations for combining certain precincts so that we can effect the polling place concerns. We've received comments from individuals in the community, from precinct judges, precinct chairs. We've had meetings with them, mailouts to them, getting their feedback. And what you have in front of you is our recommendation for the the polling locations.

>> I believe we were able to bring comments that our offices have received so they all could follow those up.

>> absolutely. We also met with members of your office and yourselves to talk about our recommendations. Adjusted some recommendations after meeting with you and members of the community. What wech is a public hearing to get public testimony, which is not required, but is something we do at the Commissioners court. And hopefully to get approval from you today.

>> a very good practice I might add. Would anyone like to give testimony during this public hearing? If so, please come forward.

>> thanks for having us and having a public hearing. I've lived in precinct 438 for about 27 years, and we are very thankful to Commissioner go mez and the-- Gomez and the staff at elections and assessors office to resurrect precinct 438 through the dead. We got redirected, they combined us with pan am and also separated the raney street area, which primarily up until about a year ago was the towers of town like, which is real high class condos, and lake side apartments, which is very low income community, and we had all voted together. We were a big happy family with the raney street area and precinct 438 which went up to comal. And then they restrict drikted us and moved us all to precinct 439. And we used to be the highest voting latino east side box in the whole history for decades. And when they combined us, because so many of our residents are elderly, we went way down. So we feel like this is a really good decision. We have about 170 voters at the rbj senior residential tower that love to be able to come back to the precinct for our 7:00 p.m. Caucuses. We lost all of our participation from the seniors at lake side, the seniors at the towers of town lake and also the seniors at the rbj. So we're very, very happy and hope that you will support us in going back to the way it was so we can be the highest voting precinct on the east side.

>> thank you. Anybody else to give comments?

>> move the public hearing be closed.

>> second.

>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. And this will be action item number 27 on today's agenda.
