Travis County Commissioners Court
December 19, 2006
Item 20
Number 20, approve contract number ps 070 lefng re community partnership for the homeless for terp house to go veterans. Mr. Pena, you can comments on this tunnel?
>> judge, Commissioners, again, I thank you for allowing me to speak on this issue. The only thing I want you to remember is this, it's good to advocate for single veterans. There have been a lot of single room occupancy sr sro's and not enough units for homeless veterans and their families. This is an issue that is being advocated throughout the nation as we speak. There is a retired major that is heading this effort, but I want you to be aware of the fact that nothing is being said here in Austin, Travis County and the state of Texas as we know it about help for veterans, homeless veterans with families. And that's all the point that I needed for y'all to hear from me. And I think you heard this before because we do have a lot of veterans that are homeless with family. That's all I had to say.
>> discussion? Thanks for your input. All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Including Commissioner Sonleitner.
