Travis County Commissioners Court
December 5, 2006
Item 4
Four is to consider and take proant action regarding the prohibition of outdoor burning in the unincorporated areas of Travis County and related matters.
>> good morning, pete baldwin, emergency management coordinator. We're going to request that we don't take any action on this outdoor burning ban even though we received some rain last week. The reason for that is it was a very narrow swath of rain even though I got an inch of rain in oak hill, it was a very small swath that was in the southern area, went to the airport and up to Pflugerville. I've heard from four of the departments out in western Travis County that said they received almost minimal amount of rain and I'm requesting it be left in place. So with that in mind I would recommend that we take no action on it. The freeze has knocked down the fire fuels. The other issue is we want to come back next week with the -- and discuss whether the fireworks ban would be appropriate for coming December first, but we will put that on for next week. But for the burn ban recommendation is leave in place.
>> okay.
>>
>> by taking no action we leave the ban in place.
>> yes, sir.
